So Cecil's writing talents are limited to covering UAt? I understand now why he has been there 35 years.
Yeah, it can't be because that's just what he enjoys doing.

Who said that ? Wow the Cult is a little protective of their town crier. I'm sure when Cecil gets a good paying job soon, the Bryant Bank will start offering no interest loans to some reporter.

The ITAT short bus needs to come pick up him, Bowl Jackson, undecided, phan and all of his alters, Mr AU Tiger and a few others......

The last few months has the lunatic fringe over there coming unhinged......

I've been reading SEC beat writers around Alabama for about 60 years, and I'd put Cecil in the top-3....and that includes company like Benny Marshall (not to be confused with his idiot son ).

Alabama beat writers have been paid to protect the mothership. From George Smith to Jimmy Smothers to Alf Van Hoose, they all drank and played with Bama Coaches and Administrators. Cecil is a throwback to that Era.

Bull shite.
You suck for besmirching the integrity of those people who have worked as sports journalists in this state without knowing the first thing about any of them. You're an idiot.

What integrity are you talking about. If you read any of them over the years, they all admitted to being fans of Bama and talked about their relationship with the Bear. It was well understood back then . Finebaum was the one who broke that trend, and he rode it all the way to the SECN.

As usual, you're FOS. Like 90% of the Auburn folks they allow to walk around in public, you have that jealous, envious chip on your shoulder and want everyone to believe that the cards are always stacked in favor of Big Brother. Sure Hurt is pro-Alabama....hell, he writes for The Tuscaloosa News, what do you expect. What sets him apart from most is that he'll call a spade, a spade and writes an honest, well thought out piece that won't pander to any coach or university official. I've often disagreed with him, but certainly couldn't argue that his conclusion wasn't brought about by honest observations and facts to back them up....and that's a helluva lot more than I can say for most of these clowns masquerading as sports writers today.

Really, FOS? George Smith's son played for Bama and Smothers proudly cheered for Bama. Writers protected their schools as much as any fan site moderator. It is hard for anyone under 45 to understand, but that is how it was done. Does anyone remember the "Sky Writers" tour?
My guess Cecil was part of it early in his career. It just never change much for him over the years.

Nothing in their shoes and that timeframe. They protected the schools and the coaches. Someone like Lane Kiffin and Terry Bowden could coach forever back then. Things are different for "most" writers today.

So they didn't "protect"Auburn is what you are saying? Give us some specific examples of how they protected Bama and not Auburn.....
