They can shut a building down pretty fast if they want to. After the V. Tech shootings we had a scare at our campus. I remember the dean of the college saying, "we had no idea what to do. We were not prepared for this event."

Here is the story. I was in this building when they evacuated.
They had over 100 police officers. State, City, & county, & campus police.

Isn't the area around UAB shady? I can't remember. I remember around Legion Field was bad. For a LSU - Bama game there one year, I paid twenty bucks to park in this hellhole, and I told a friend of mine walking to the stadium "I just gave that guy 20 bucks so now he can fill the tank once he jacks my truck." lol

sorry...off topic

UAB is Downtown. Legion Field is in West Birmingham, just down 8th Ave. from Birmingham Southern College.

And we wonder why young innocent black males like Trayvon Martin died in such a senseless act of violence. It is stupid acts of violence like this that lead to other stupid acts of violence, like the act the took Trayvon Martin's life. It is such a sad, vicious cycle

Very sad story prayers for the family and prayers that the police catch and prosecute these SOBs soon. That is what will continue to scare the campus.
STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — A student was shot to death at a Mississippi State University residence hall late Saturday night, prompting campus-wide alerts as authorities searched for suspects who fled the scene.

University spokeswoman Maridith Geuder said police received a call about the shooting at Evans Hall around 10 p.m. Saturday. The victim was taken to a hospital where he subsequently died.

Three male suspects fled the building in a blue Crown Victoria. As of early Sunday, no arrests had been made and the campus remained under emergency conditions.
