Everybody is onboard with the fact the UGA D is going to have to carry this team this year and that the UGA O is going to cost them 2-3 games this year. As the kids like to say, the science is settled. But what happens when that D is gone? Is it this year or bust for UGA?
DL- 3-4 off the 2 deep gone
LB-2-3 off the 2 deep gone
DB 3-4 off the 2 deep gone
And that’s before the standard unforeseen guys leaving for various reasons.
And yes @DJsdawg I know, addition by subtraction, they were all recruited over, and by next year UGAs O will be better than LSU 2019 by 2021.

Looks like another year of 1980 jokes to me.

You never explained how that is different than 2019. Is that because you missed 2019 because the vols sucked yet again?

Reminds me of 2018 when we were gonna suck due to the loss of 30 seniors from the year before...

Kirby finally has his dream. He’s reincarnated the 2008 Alabama team.

I think this is the year for sure if he's gonna do it. That defense should be outstanding. He needs Monken to earn his money. Still have no doubt they aren't going anywhere in the future. The offense will get better on talent alone and Kirby will always have an absurd amount of talent on defense to fit his scheme.
This is a team built in the mold of those earlier Bama teams where defense carried them and hoped the offense could do enough to not screw it up. Not sure that style can still get it done. We shall see

2018 UGA had competent coordinators, including Chaney, to overcome a lot. It was an established system full of guys recruited for it. Confidence was high in Athens and the program felt primed to be title contenders
2021 will see the second year of the “monken O” with 1ish recruiting cycle. Likely it will be coming off a 7-3(plus bowl) season and 2 years of underperforming on O and wondering about kirbys inability to hire O coordinators and why he keeps running off African American QBs.

Chaney left. We didn’t have him in 2019. The d had to carry the team while the offense struggled, just like you say about this year. But wait, we also lost our DC. No way it should have been able to carry the team.
How did you miss all of that?

You seem to be a little bit preoccupied with UGA.

I like how lesser teams ridicule better teams for losing more talent than their lesser team had.

You're not wrong in a way. Obviously Kirby has recruited very well but we will lose tons of talent off this D after 2020.
Next year's defense will obviously have plenty of talent but it'll be an inexperienced unit and I'd be shocked if it didn't take a step back in 2021.

2017 was Kirby Smart’s year and he missed out on it.
Since then Georgia has seen a steady but noticeable decline each year, and this year looks no different with a QB situation in disarray and attempting to install a new offense at the last minute
It’s not 1980 anymore. No matter how stout your defense is, you must have an elite offense to win it all in today’s college football. Georgia is at best a 7-3 team this year with the current offensive problems

Are you hillbillies too illiterate to read any recruiting publication that shows we are actually improving the overall quality of our roster?
Oh and 1998 or 1980, both were a long time ago.

There is a big difference between “step back” and what s1 thinks it’s going to be.

I’m curious how it’s a given we’ll lose 2-3 games because of the offense? We had an average to below average O last year and went 11-1. We hopefully have a better defense this year so we just need an average O. I can see 2-3 losses but it’s far from a given.
