Exactly. I mean, he's undefeated except for the games he lost, right?

Let me get this straight.

Saban is under pressure at Bama because of his success so therefore he would move to Texas to get away from success and pressure?

Dufuh?

Listening to Clay Travis on the Dan Patrick Show.

He just made a great point. He said saban doesn't have to use Texas to get a raise. IF saban wants a raise, he walks in and tells bama he wants $9 mill. a year or he will retire. What do you think bama would do? He thinks there may something to this story. saban could win a NC, at a third different "storied program", which would put him down as the greatest college coach to ever live.

Just something to think about.

It's happening again I can feel it. Ask any LSU fan about it. Just because you winning championship's means nothing to saban. It's all about the trill of the next challenge. I'll be here for you bama if you need a shoulder to cry on. Saban gone

Isn't this a slap at Texas that Saban thinks there's less "pressure" to win as coach of the Longhorns?

I'll readily admit I had the same thought process as this back in January myself. It was a really weird feeling. We had just beaten Notre Dame like a red headed stepchild and I thought to myself "this is nice, but it's also getting almost boring in a way" winning so easily. Taking it in the context of winning it all YET AGAIN this year, I can see a level of boredom and nothing left to shoot for setting in for CNS. If I as a fan can get that complacent and bored, I'd imagine it's even worse for a coach like CNS. On the other hand, I think having those feelings of complacency and boredom are one thing. Acting on them and pulling up shop and going to a brand new program is another. The "nothing left to prove" boredom of going through the motions and kicking a## at one school is the one reason I could see Saban leaving for another challenge. At some point, there is no rebound challenge/factor for a coach that keeps winning it all every year. It's a wonderful "problem" to have but in a weird way CNS has or can build up the Bama program to a point where there's nothing left to reach for.

P.S. Having said all of the above, I have a very well connected relative that told me that as of 2 weeks ago Saban wasn't going anywhere. This is from the highest source you can go other than CNS himself. Things could certainly change but after hearing what I heard 2 weeks ago I feel more confident he stays than I did 2 weeks ago.

Saban has one big move left in him. I will go down and say there is 0 chance he finishes his career at Bama. It is what he does people. But I can understand all the butthurt Bama fans on this topic.

I guess I'll have to bow to your superior knowledge, then. I know you had tea with Saban every day while he was at LSU, and now he calls you on the phone all the time to let you know how unhappy and bored he is here at Alabama. All I've got to go on is what I read and hear in the news, so you've got me there.

"There's not the University of Mars, which is a better place. You know?" Saban said. "There's not that.

Saban knows that he is at the pinnacle of what is known as American Football. The only way he could exceed what he has, would be to change professions and start over doing something else. No University, no professional program, is greater than the University of Alabama. He knows this. He knows that it is the quintessential program, the elite of the elite and he had to make up something in Universal, galactic terms to try to even compare. Bama takes from the NFL, their coaches, they deny the NFL, their coaches. Tx is like Billy Ray Cyrus' mullet in the late 80's, compared to Bama. They will always wish they could be half the program, with half the success as Bama has had, and continues to have.

Imagine the tears shed, the suicides, the divorces that would inundate the state of Alabama if Saban leaves.

I hope Saban leaves just to witness thousands of uneducated rednecks implode simultaneously upon their nothingness. Harvey Updike would drive to Austin and go bell tower, book it.

As an Au fan, you should know what I said is true, more than anyone else. Living in the shadows, witnessing your schools own achievements trail off to a whimper as Bama continues their dominance. I sense the bitterness of knowing your rare NC being forgotten and just a footnote in the midst of yet another dynasty run by the greatest program ever known to football.

Tuscaloosa is a hick southern town. It's barely a city. bama is as premier as it gets. bama is not more premier that Texas, USCw, Notre Dame, Oklahoma. These schools are every bit as "storied" as bama is, when it comes to college football. Those schools just don't 'claim" as many NC's as bama does. You are too stupid to know this, because your head is so far up saban'a arse that you can't see your own nose, but those are the facts, not some delusional opinion.

Because I talk about the program? Your insecurity and feeling of second class status is showing.

There is a "class" of our fanbase that would do what you describe. No doubt. They are the extreme minority, but they would be reported on in every instance because it's not "news" to say, "hey, this guy left and 98% of the fanbase casually went on with their lives"

That said, IF he were to ever leave for any other job, I can promise you Bama fans will not constantly try to remind fans of his new team "he's gonna leave you too...just wait and see". That won't happen.

Either way, the more public this becomes, the more Texas tries to hang its 10-gallon hat on one phone call 10 months ago, the more Texas makes it clear why Saban likely would want no part of that job.

The last thing Saban wants to deal with is a bunch of politicians who can't keep their private business private. The last place he wants to work is a university where one regent is trying to force out the university president, where that regent himself is the subject of impeachment hearings.

That's clutter to the max.

If you think there's "special pressure" to keep winning national championships at Alabama, it's nothing compared to the possibility of taking a job at Texas not knowing who's going to win the political tug-of-war there or when it's going to end.

Sexton is pure genius. Why bring this up now, even though it's old news? Keeps the USC thing under the radar.
