It is only a big loss if Malik is willing to switch positions. He is not a P5 QB.

Slusher, yes. He was one of the troublemakers that was a follower of the strength coach that just got fired, apparently the coach started some drama and tried to undercut Pittman and he was in Slusher's ear the whole time. That's why the guy ended up getting fired, because he basically attempted a mutiny and tried to rally some players against Pittman - one of them being Slusher.
Hornsby has elite speed and not much else. If you go watch his HS tapes, he hasn't progressed or developed as a QB at all in college. You could literally take his HS tapes and put a Razorback jersey on him and not know the difference. Not a big loss there when we have KJ coming back and Malachi Singleton (a KJ version 2.0) coming in this class.
The writing was on the wall for Hornsby all season when he couldn't beat out Cade Fortin for the backup role, even when given playing time in games and 1st/2nd team reps at practice. He has insane speed but doesn't have any other QB characteristics that translate to the college level

They’re good players; most guys in the SEC are.
But I’m not exactly sure why you’re making the leap that the players ahead of these kids on the depth chart aren’t solid as well?
I’ve more than said my peace on this subject.
With few exceptions, it’s bittersweet when a young man leaves.
I genuinely wish them well in their new chapters!

Just because a guy is a 4 or 5 star recruit does not mean they are good. None of the guys in the portal did jack shite at A&M.

A bunch of guys who are getting a little or no playing time want to look at the possibility of going elsewhere, where they might get on the field.

Someone please explain to me how this is sustainable or good for the long term health of college football. It’s nothing more than unrestricted free agency as well as tool to process unwanted talent.
