He's been a DC for one year.

Exactly. And that one year he had a defense full of future NFL players and 1st round talent.

At Bama he was coaching the most talented DBs in the country.

At Hoover he had guys like Josh Chapman and Kerry Murphy.

Yeah, I don't see AU fans being excited about hiring a DC who just won the title. Completely illogical. Hell, y'all were excited about Ellis Johnson and he had won one major conference title in 30+ years of coaching if I'm not mistaken.

Hell, if he is a kickass recruiter, then he will always have great talent at UGA as well so I am good with that.

One game does not define a coach's career. Just because FSU gave up yards in one game to Auburn does not mean he is not a good coach. I actually thought they did a great job of making adjustments at halftime.

Well... he's not.

He has a solid recruiting record though, and connections in Alabama, so from that perspective he could outclass a lot of people.

There wasn't:

- Pruitt has only one year of experience and has benefitted from really good players (because good coaches recruit 2 and 3*s and win from being superior coaches).
- Smart is a Saban puppet and can't cut it on his own
- Narduzzi coaches against Big 10 offenses
- Pendergast would have just been a Grantham clone and doesn't know the SEC.

There wasn't a good hire for the Aubie crowd.

The Aubies are starving for any kind of satisfaction available after the BCSNCG collapse left a gaping hole in their football season. They know the SEC hasn't had a repeat football champion in 15+ years, which means they're probably looking at 9-3 next year. Let em have this one.

I was at Hoover HS when Jeremy Pruitt was on the staff there. He was my S&C coach. I thought he was a dumbass. As a 14, 15 yr old I knew I was smarter than him.

All 14 and 15 year old kids "think" they are smarter than everyone. I'm sure you were no different.

He has as good or better a resume than any other option that UGA could have realistically looked at for DC.

You can spin the hire as good or bad simply bc we do not have a large enough sample size yet to say if he is good or bad but if he turns out to be a great DC he will prob get the UGA head coach spot. If he sucks, UGA is in the same position it is now which is having a bad DC.

That's a big hire, he's been on some Championship teams and had a great defense last year. He was only in the ACC though, so there's that.

He's does run the 4-3, so it will be interesting to see how that impacts the current players, they've been doing the 3-4 for a year+. He'll have the whole spring and summer to teach them what he wants though, so there's time enough.

There was a big splash too when Grantham was hired, so time will tell.

If the Aubies are upset with our hire, then we must have made the right choice.

If you can't see the difference between Jeremy Pruitt's coaching stops and Ellis Johnson's coaching stops then there is just no helping you.

Pruitt:
-Hoover HS under Rush Probst
-Bama coaching DBs for Nick Saban
-FSU for 1 year coaching 1st rounders like Jernigan, Joyner, and Christian Jones.

Ellis Johnson:
-Southern Miss DC
-Clemson DC
- Bama DC under Mike Dubose
-Miss State DC
-USCe DC

Auburn will be the first stop in Johnson's career where he will have elite talent to work with. Pruitt has had elite defensive talent his whole coaching career.

All beaver was saying is that we don't understand why this hire is viewed by anyone who isn't a homer as a 'homerun' hire. No more, no less. It's a valid question. You guys said the same thing about Grantham when he was hired so keep crying wolf, and AU will keep beating you on the recruiting trail and the field for the next few years.

Even if it is just addition by subtraction with this guy....

...But I think Pruitt bring credibility and is a much better recruiter.

Aubuie's are just mad because as soon as Greene caught the winning TD people quit talking about Auburn and so no one really gives a shite about them anymore like most years.

Did we? Link? I was clueless about him, I knew nothing about him, and certainly wasn't overly confident in switching fro the 4-3 to 3-4. I have a friend who is a defensive GA at FSU ("was," I guess), so I know plenty about Pruitt.
