Ok, I asked a question. Why is it a homerun hire?
Because of who he replaces, and because he gives hope.

Well, FSU's defense has been top 5 for the last 3 years (2011-2013). All Pruitt's doing, right there!

I was at Hoover HS when Jeremy Pruitt was on the staff there. He was my S&C coach. I thought he was a dumbass. As a 14, 15 yr old I knew I was smarter than him.
Honestly, I think he has just benefited from always being around juggernaut programs.
-At Hoover we always had a great defense because we had better athletes and more kids.
-He was hired at Bama based on his rep from Hoover, his past history with Bama, and more importanly than his coaching, Bama hired him for his recruiting. He has the ability to connect with HS kids and knew the Birmingham area well.
-Once on staff at Bama people began to give him more credit than he deserved for his X's and O's just because he was working with Saban
-That led to his one year as DC at FSU where he had a DL and secondary full of 1st round NFL players to make him look good.
tl;dr summary:
Pruitt has always had superior athletes to make him look better
UGA fuucckkedd

He's a really good recruiter. Top-tier bagman.

He is also a VERY good recruiter. UGA is constantly having to fight back against encroachments from programs like FSU, UF, and AU that are closer to many areas of the state than UGA is. By taking him away from FSU, we are weakening them in addition to strengthening UGA. He has plenty of ties to the state of Alabama as well. SO UGA gains a guy that can recruit or counter-recruit in three important states for UGA ( GA, FL, and Bama).
Being a DB coach doesn't hurt either.
And honestly, if UGA got him at the price that is being stated then the gamble isn't that huge. I am more than willing to give him a shot at 850K. I would guess that the multiyear contract is packed with incentives and very well likely has a tiered salary for the longer he is at UGA.

Once again the AU peanut gallery wets the bed anytime their academic superiors throw down the rook card.
You finally won a game this year against the Dawgs just be happy.

14 and 15 year old's think they're smarter than EVERYONE. What's your point?
For being such a dumbass, he sure has BS'd his way to some top tier jobs, right?

he held auburn to 4.4 ypc and shut them down excluding a drive or two.

You're an above average troll that recently came out of the works because your one hit wonder of a team started winning again. Nobody wants to have a conversation about your shitty topic that is obviously nothing more than a troll thread. Did you forget one of the best offensive minds of this generation also had a month to prepare?
Your post is filled with butt hurt and it's glorious.

He got 'promoted' to UA due to his Josh Chapman association and has leached off of #1 talent ever since.
He might be able to run a scheme but UGA will be his real proving ground.

The easy answer? He just won a national title as DC for the first non-SEC champion in almost a decade and he was named Recruiter of the Year by 247 Sports. It's not like he walked into a situation at FSU where he returned a ton of starters on D. They just had a few 1st rounders taken this past year. He obviously walked into talent, but, hell there is just as much talent at UGA and we return 10 starters.
Further, he's also a 3-4 guy, so completely unlike 2010, we have no transition period personnel wise. Along the same lines, our only personnel issues currently seem to be at DB. He has a DB background. The DBs total passing yards allowed were ranked very high nationally at both Bama and at FSU.
He is now one of only 3 current SEC DCs with a national championship ring (I believe).
I thought him and Smart were the two home run hires that were fringe possibilities, but thought neither was realistic. Really surprised we pulled Pruitt.

Every fanbase is acknowledging it was an amazing hire for UGA except Aubie. Go figure

That's because it looks like a good hire from the outside.
Those of us who know Pruitt's history know he is nothing special as a coach, just as a recruiter. Bama just can't admit it because that means they would have to stop sucking Saban's dick for a minute. That leaves us AU fans to tell you the cold hard truth.

He's been a DC for one year. The fact that you guys are classing a one year DC as an 'amazing' hire by any stretch is just pure cognitive dissonance, something leghumpers are good at.
