If it were McDonnell it'd be done by now. If it's Godwin then they missed out on whoever they're working on in Omaha.

First of all, you've proven to be a complete dumbass in regards to all things related to this coaching search.

Secondly, this comment is untrue. Scott Woodward could easily be waiting to talk to Corbin before aggressively pursuing someone else. That is very plausible. We just don't know.

Not if Scott wants to talk to Corbin first. A lot of people think that is what is happening. We all fully expect him to say no because he has it cush in Nashville and is 60 years old. They pay him a lot, he has recruiting advantages no one else really has, and he lives in a world class city and that program is rolling at elite levels.

Honestly though, Corbin isn't top 5 for me. He's too old.

It's Godwin.

And to the other posters, it is McDonnell not McConnell.

McDonnell is a Citadel grad who was a great player himself in college, including in Omaha. He's apparently a very classy guy and obviously has performed miracles at Louisville.

I truly think he's the best coach in America.

That makes sense. LSU will get somebody good.

No idea and no one on this board has no idea
The salary of > $2 million will never happen for a baseball hire
Godwin would still be my pick at this point

Sure it could, LSU is about to reset the market. Corbin probably makes more than that all in. 1.2 is his base and they don't report all of his comp package (private school).

I could see 1.5-2m plus incentives easily.

You think Godwin is a fallback if we don't get McDonnell?

No, I said that was my list of who I want. I have no idea what Woody is thinking.

I just think McDonnell is the best coach in America and would win multiple titles at LSU.

A salary of > $2M is just a matter of time with the money that the SEC teams are bringing in. Some teams are already pretty close.

Tadlock is rumored at 1.6M for his new deal
I've heard Schloss might be even higher

I don't think getting McDonnell out of that contract is viable but PM did leave Notre Dame and paid his buyout and worked for free his first year at LSU

Vitello is the hot guy right now but he got a good lesson on the type of team you have to field to have success at TD Ameritrade - lesson learned

I can't see Corbin leaving his gig at this point, LSU passed back when they hired PM

I think it’s highly probable the waters have already been tested for Corbin. If he’s interested, Woodward knows it. If Vitello stays at Tennessee and a HC isn’t named immediately after, it’s probably because Corbin has shown strong interest. We will see.

I haven't seen these details yet. I wonder if that is what is going on? They could be negotiating that or maybe past a certain date his buyout drops?

I have no idea, I just know I want him in purple and gold.

I'd also be happy with Godwin, Vitello, or Johnson. All great recruiters and coaches.

It’s looking and smelling like Corbin to me.

I know we’re all anxious to find out…this has certainly been an entertaining coaching search for sure.

Too late now, but there’s been enough banter about this coaching search to have warranted the Coaching Changes board being open.

Gun to my head, I think they’re after Corbin with Johnson as the backup plan.

And none of it coming from any substance which is truly impressive on Scott Woodward's part. This is nothing like Joe Alleva searches in the past. Woody has this shite sealed up.

If Alleva was AD this would be the chain of events:

- Several substantive and legit leaks coming from the AD's office
- Alleva panicking and denying that he's interested in certain coaches despite him actually being interested in those coaches, thus trapping himself in a lie
- First target counters his offer, as is normal in business
- Alleva panics and gives in to Skip and hires Bianco for well over market value
- Tries to sell us on paying him $2m a year to never win shite because he "is one of us" even though Alleva hated Louisiana and it's people

I would just like someone younger. Not following the search too closely so I am not aware of the other names we might be interested in.
