The SEC intends to fight the court order barring it from punishing teams that suit up former NFL players this fall.
In its first public comment since a Baton Rouge judge barred the conference from punishing schools that sign former professional players, the league told CBS Sports on Sunday evening that it and its commissioner, Greg Sankey, will contest the case in a Louisiana courtroom on Thursday morning.
"The order entered against the SEC and Commissioner Sankey is a temporary restraining order, not a final ruling on the merits," the conference said in a statement.
I don’t think it’s over.
What are these teams going to do Saturday if it’s not decided?

If I were the SEC’s attorneys I’d subpoena LSU’s entire coaching staff and make sure Thursdays hearing took all day. Hell may even try to bleed it into Friday

Tom Mars is basically saying the SEC's case is a slam dunk.
So makes you wonder what is Kiffin thinking.
But even the stupid people need conviction too so I seriously hope he plays those pros come Saturday.

I believe all 16 SEC schools voted to enact the rule prohibiting former pro players.
LSU abstained from voting on the penalty.

And every school in the NCAA/SEC believe in the rule for 5 total years of eligibility or 4 + 1 redshirt before this year and yet some players are going to play who are out of eligibility.
Court orders can change what you think is right to what actually happens. Not sure why that is hard to understand. Next time I see a school turn away a player who won an extra year of eligibility, that school can talk. But it doesn't happen.
