So true, but the part i liked best was the new annual tradition of handing OU the big 12 title. THAT had to sting more since that's their ONLY REAL rival.

The whole program is suffering from a huge lack of interest, while we get to host 3 recent NC winners every other year.
Is that why aggy state legislators keep filing bills at the Capitol to force the game to continue? Dumbass...

Even Larson admits that he never thought the bill would pass. He just saw there was a big conversation in the state about the game this offseason and he wanted to make sure he was part of it.
The emails gotten from the TAMU president make it clear the game isn't a priority for A&M at the university level.

That might fly, if this wasn't the third or fourth time aggy legislators have filed bills to force the game to continue.
If it's a running joke among aggy, please stahp.

Right, your schedule is full and it would cost a pretty penny to buy out contracted opponents to make it happen. Understandable.
But when TEXAS used that same reasoning, aggy threw a shite fit and started filing bills to force the game to continue.

It's not going to happen - get used to the idea that it will be a Bowl game, if anything for the next decade or so

in this thread internet poster "Smart Post" proceeds to post in a thread about A&M alumni, with no say or control over what our athletic program does or does not do, filing completely pointless legislation, that they themselves no has no chance of coming to fruition, while ignoring that CDC and tom herman have been begging A&M for a game in football for years like a crack slut in need of a fix

SEC Shorts is great! They abuse everyone in the conference equally and stay up to date on current issues. They've busted our chops at LSU more than once, but it's all in good fun. These guys are the best!

I love how you keep using the term "Aggie Legislators" like that is a thing, or like its a large group.
What is really happening is one or two chuckle fricks, who happened to go to A&M and who have no involvement with the current administration there, using the game as an opportunistic way to get their name out there to improve their standing within the legislature.
There hasn't been ONE serious effort by anyone with the authority to do so and there won't be.

We didn't throw "a shite fit," we just wrongfully assumed that Texas would continue to make it priority to play us when we went to the SEC because other programs have OOC rivalries across the country. When Texas said no we got the LSU game moved to that weekend and moved on, there was no real effort from anyone actually associated with the administration at A&M that tried to change Texas's mind.
And now that Texas has a coach with some balls and enough IQ in his head to reason out what us Aggies figured out in 2012 (the Texas home schedule without us sucks), now the Texas side is finally making some noise about the game coming back and we are saying frick off because Texas had its chance.
The reality is going forward either side will only want what benefits them, and there was only one time when A&M was willing to put aside all those other factors and play for the sake of tradition- when we asked when we first left.
Everything since from all parties has just been blatant opportunism and to try to paint one side a different from the other is mental gymnastics.

Besides the most recent one I've already posted?
Here's the first attempt, right after y'all left the Big 12 (these legislators mentioned are both Aggies).
quote:
Texas A&M football’s move to the Southeastern Conference next year has now become a political issue, with one state senator moving to legislatively mandate the traditional Thanksgiving football matchup against UT.
Texas State Sen. Tommy Williams, R-The Woodlands, announced plans to preserve the long-standing rivalry between the A&M Aggies and the UT Longhorns by introducing legislation instructing both teams to meet by law.
State Rep. John Otto, R-Dayton, will sponsor the legislation to be presented during the 83rd session of the Texas Legislature, according to a press release from Sen. Williams‘s office. “This football series began in 1894, and I don’t think it’s time to stop this rivalry,” Sen. Williams said in the press release.

Why are you so hung up on three irrelevant legislators with whom next to no one agrees?
You post this constantly.
It’s odd.
Relax. Enjoy an early afternoon Happy Hour.

The first state senator and A&M grad who threatened legislation, Tommy Williams, is currently a Vice Chancellor of the A&M System.

Jesus you just love to play games don't you?
The article YOU provided shows that the proposal for the game was in 2011. He wasn't hired by the A&M system until 2013. Therefore when he proposed the legislation he had nothing to do with A&M at that time.

Here's the second attempt, from 2013.

Ryan Guillen, a Democrat from House District 31, filed a bill Monday that would require the University of Texas and Texas A&M University to compete annually in football, which would renew a rivalry that dates to 1894.
"This game is as much a Texas tradition as cowboy boots and barbeque," Guillen, an A&M graduate, said in a prepared statement to ESPN. "The purpose of the bill is to put the 'eyes of Texas upon' our two greatest universities

So an Aggy graduate worked on his own because he felt pity for that pathetic program in Austin. Lolz.
