The university did pressure her.
And the university did not self report before she became public on the issue.

That is why mizzou is getting the book thrown at them. Unfortunately for them, they are caught red handed.

The NCAA is getting pressure from the other leagues because of the rampant cheating in the SEC which has resulted in the conference dominating the landscape of college sports, but Emmert isn't gonna rat out his boy or his boy's protege (a- because they are a-hole buddies, b- because Saban has dirt on him, and Kirby has dirt on Sabes, c- because Bama makes too much money for the NCAA and has become "too big to fail") so Missouri had to take the hit for the league. It is what it is, Miz. You traded Texas for Alabama. Meet the new boss...same as the old boss.

ETA: Sankey ostensibly "standing up for you" is part of the rouse. It's the difference in the brash Texas approach and the subtle cut-your-balls-off- while-you're-not-looking and publically saying-"bless-your-heart" approach of the deep south.

This is how Florida got hammered back in the 80's. A guy on the inside got disgruntled and went to the NCAA. It is also how I can' believe Miami didn't get obliterated when the booster turned on them.

Never cooperate. USC is the only school I can remember who didn't cooperate and got hammered. Mostly because Paul Dee (former Miami AD who was on the infractions committee) hated USC and thought they were always favored by the NCAA in the past.

We will mock you for being Yankees, or for a bad sports team, or for hiring hookers to recruit players. Never for a really minor NCAA violation that got you in more hot water then you deserve.

Think of how many student athletes there are in the SEC. Even if every University was doing its best to run clean programs odds are that every school has some minor academic hanky panky going on. Add to it UNC getting a slap on the wrist for far more wide spread academic issues and you have an annoyed conference backing you up.

That is some serious mental gymnastics there my friend.

Ole piss should have gotten worse.

To the people mentioning UNC and their scandal, from what I understand, the reason they didn’t get anything is because it was not just athletes enrolled in these fake on line classes(means athletes don’t get special treatment) and, probably the most important part, they claimed the athletes in these classes actually did the work.

Whether that work was gluing cotton balls to blue construction paper and calling it clouds may not be sufficient to pass a meteorology class at most institutions, the NCAA is not allowed to determine if it is or not.

I agree it’s complete bull shite, but by the letter of the law (not intent) they followed the rules. Also UNC refuses to cooperate and kept a tight fricking ship during the whole ordeal. After Missouri just got hosed, I expect this to be the case moving forward for every future infraction. These universities need to look at the NCAA as most people look at cops, they are not out to clear you and you should always have a liar, I mean lawyer present when interrogated.

Yeah SEC domination of sports has nothing to do with increasing population in the south, a significantly higher population of African Americans in the south, or the weather allowing all sports to be played year round. It’s only due to cheating.

So he is going to have Saban call Emmert and ask for a solid?

Sankey had to recuse himself from the Ole Miss case because he was on the NCAA's Committee of Infractions board at the time OM's case was under investigation.

Ole Miss was straight up paying motherfrickers.

I'm glad to see that this board still hasn't changed.

5+ years of the NCAA living in Oxford and not one instance of any Ole Miss players getting paid.

It is not only UNC, But Florida State's case might be the most similar. Both are ACC. Missouri and the SEC needs to punch the NCAA in the nuts.

Most cited the UNC scam of course and a few UNC fans called in and basically laughed and said frick Mizzou and frick the SEC.

(And some people in this conference actually want those assclowns in the SEC.) ?

Never understood the desire for UNC in the SEC. Clemson, FSU, and Georgia Tech are the only ACC schools that would fit the mold.

Where you are flawed here is that Dean Smith set up the classes in the first place. Clearly a violation but they were not going to let Dean Smiths image get tarnished or the banners to come down in the Dean Dome. NCAA did the same for Wooden at UCLA.

VA Tech and NCSt do as well. State would just need to keep improving Carter Finley; it holds like 55,000.

Seems like Sankey knows a crippled Mizz hurts the overall conference.

Also I have no doubt that the most the P5 conferences will end up telling NCAA to kick rocks and govern themselves.
