Well I mean yeah. Could you imagine the blowback if the schools actually stood up for themselves.

Let the players play if they want to.

This is a big step. Can't say players were forced to due to a fear of losing their scholly.

Families and players can make the personal choice to play or not.

Right call imo.

No options there. The backlash would be absurd

What kid wouldn't want to play though? I don't think there are too many kids who go for a football scholarship just to get their schooling paid for, right?

That doesn’t address if they would lose their year of eligibility or not though.

That is an NCAA decision. SEC can't decide that. SEC can only decide on honoring scholorshipps.

Right. It’s a pointless gesture somewhat though if they lose the year. I can’t see many kids sitting out if they can’t keep that year. I know I wouldn’t have when I was that age. Football was life.

You realize the alternative would be for the schools to appear to be holding scholarships hostage and forcing kids to play during all this?
It's not like they can do it remotely, like you can for academic, music, art, theater, or any other kind of scholarship.

That's basically the same as a medical scholarship honored for a kid who has a career-ending injury.

They could use it as a redshirt year

There's one exception. If the player is named Kellen Mond, he doesn't get a redshirt year no matter what.

What if they already used it? Taking the medical redshirt off the table going forward for everyone going through this year might be an option though.
