Seems legit
What's not legit is claiming that bogus win over us before we even started playing football.

UK's 1865 date is no coincidence. It was the ag arm of an older private school, now known as Transylvania University, that was founded in 1780 as the first school west of the mountains. Because Lexington changed hands repeatedly during the war, a few Transylvania buildings were burned down and UK spun off.

Of the teams in this list, is LSU the only school to have moved their campus location? We're on our fourth campus location...
1869
(October 15) Pineville campus building burns.
(November 1) Classes resume in Baton Rouge at Institute for the Deaf, Dumb, and Blind.
1886
LSU moves from quarters at the Institute for the Deaf, Dumb, and Blind to the federal garrison grounds (now the site of the state capitol).
(September) Department of the Interior transfers title of Baton Rouge Arsenal to the state.
D.F. Boyd conducts repairs on new campus without reimbursement from the Board of Supervisors and resigns to teach. LSU moves to new campus.
1926
(April 30) Present campus is dedicated.
History of LSU
I believe that LSU has the newest campus in the SEC.

Was Georgia still a criminal colony back then? Kinda funny that Georgia was founded for that purpose and over two centuries later their football players still honor their roots.
Not necessarily a criminal colony but a debtor's colony.

LSU repaid that favor by donating land to what is now the Louisiana School for the Deaf...
quote:
Since opening its doors to eleven students in 1852, the Louisiana School for the Deaf has provided superior educational programming to deaf and hard-of-hearing students from across the state. From its humble beginnings in the old Baton Rouge College building to the present-day 116-acre campus on Brightside Lane, LSD has been steadfast in its mission - to provide a nurturing environment in which students have the opportunity to achieve their potential.
The Louisiana School for the Deaf occupies 116 acres of land on Brightside Lane just south of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. The school is surrounded by property either owned by or in some way related to LSU: pasture land operated by the Agricultural College, the LSU Golf Course and housing developments which primarily serve LSU students. From the north side of our campus, one can clearly see "Death Valley" (no, not California, but Tiger Stadium!). To the northwest, one can see the Mississippi River bridge; it's a quick ride from LSD up the River Road to downtown Baton Rouge.
Louisiana School for the Deaf
Easy access to LSD as well as the UNIVERSITY LABORATORY SCHOOL is why our School of Education is ranked as highly as it is. We're ranked #6 in the country.

We were an elite institution from 1801 until the Civil War, comparable to UVA. Then, the Civil War, the Radical Republicans, and Ben Tillman trashed our school.
Such a shame.
