I would say that we suck but that would be an understatement. I wonder if we would start to care about the sport if we started to compete at a high level? Have we always sucked?

Alabama is not very good, but the RPI isn't exactly a good indicator at this point in the season.

Bama does care about the sport. Just completed huge renovation to the stadium. Just hired a new coach. Scholarship limitations and lack of lottery "scholarships" to help out is some disadvantage but not one that can't be overcome.

No. Alabama has a solid baseball history. I think they are 2nd in SEC regular season titles and 3rd in SEC tourney titles. Probably in upper half of SEC in NCAA tournament and WS appearances although have never won it all (runner up twice). Alabama's been good but not great at baseball for most of its existence.

So how many baseball teams are there? 204? I figure they needed an extra space between the other last place team and us.

This is shaping up to be the worst team we've had since at least 2012 (21-34, 9-21 SEC, #127 RPI) and possibly since 1994 (21-35).

Like with basketball, we've been consistently mediocre since the mid 2000s. Lots of sneaking into the NCAA Tournament and finishing #7-#9 in the SEC. That won't be happening this year.

Nah, it died with the Super Regional loss to UNC in 2006.

2000 : 41-24, NCAA Regional
2002 : 51-15, SEC Tournament Champs, NCAA Regional
2003 : 38-24, SEC Tournament Champs, NCAA Regional
2005 : 40-23, NCAA Regional
2006 : 44-21, SEC Regular Season Champs, Super Regional

After that we pretty much quit being a player in the SEC and outside of almost making the CWS in 2010 never have come close to being a player nationally.

Garret Rukes (0-0, 1.93 ERA) on the mound against Eastern Illinois (1-13) today. The Panthers have a .219 team batting average, 10.31 ERA.

Bama gonna get a boost today

LOL, Eastern Illinois is 1-13 and went 12-39 last year. Doubt that is going to boost our RPI.

Yea win or lose, playing a 1-13 team will hurt the RPI. Although I guess if you're at #205 there isn't much room to fall

Boost your average and ERA, or at least it should. Bama is bad this year.
