Interesting article from AL.com that lists some records that will probably stand forever.

1937: Tennessee punted 139 times

1938: Alabama defense gave up 701 total yards

1951 and 1983: Georgia QB Zeke Bratkowski and Vanderbilt QB Kurt Page threw 29 interceptions

1981: Georgia RB Herschel Walker averaged 35.0 rushing attempts per game

2010: Auburn QB Cam Newton ran for 1,473 yards

I don't see anyone beating Derrick Henry's single rushing record for a long time. I don't see a back getting that many carries in one season again. 2200 yards.

Didn’t Tennessee have a season in which their defense went unscored upon with no ties? Or is that urban legend?

Seems like maybe the early 50s?

Tennessee had 17 consecutive shutouts from 1938-1940. That will probably never happen again, given how rare even one shutout is these days.

Edit: MadMaxVol had me beat there by a minute

That's pretty incredible. The 57 Auburn team only gave up 28 the entire season

I don't know about this. This was close to being broken 2 years after cam did it. It would have been broken with 14 games like cam had.

I mean, that's happened two other times in the SEC alone so no reason to believe it can't be beat.

Yeah, I don't see Hershel's 35 carries a game being broken either.

Yeah, Johnny was close, but those two were unusual specimens on the football field that don't come around too often.

I’ll go with 1938 Bama’s defensive stats as the least likely to be broken.

LSU gave up 39.1 rushing yards per game in 1969.

Josh Reed caught 19 passes at alabama in 2001.

LSU returned 3 punts for TDs againt Ole Miss in 1970.

Tied NCAA record: hits in an inning (13)
NCAA Tournament record: runs in one inning (18)
NCAA Tournament record: total bases (27)

New OT rules just made it more difficult.

Cam Newtons record will 100% be broken. Offense is evolving way faster than defense.

Don't think these are unbeatable but that did remind me:

Between 2010 and 2012 the Gamecocks set two NCAA records for postseason success: the most consecutive NCAA tournament wins (22) and the most consecutive wins in the College World Series (12)

Not really a record, but we also won the last title at Rosenblatt and the first at TD Ameritrade, so that can never be duplicated.

Maybe in point totals, but it seems to me like it might be easier for there to be more than 7 OTs:

quote:

There has been one major adjustment to the overtime format for 2019. Teams will rotate two-point conversion tries beginning in the fifth overtime, eliminating possessions starting at the opposing 25-yard-line. Each offense will have just one chance to convert the two-point try before the other team gains possession.

They have 1 play, are you telling me you can't see a series of teams missing 2 PT conversions several times in a row? Or even making them several times in a row? Unless I'm reading the rule wrong?
