I still say Les gets too much hate from our fanbase (it's getting better as time goes on). He wasn't Saban but he kept us nationally relevant basically every year for a decade. 05-07 (yes I know Saban recruits) was the best 3 year stretch in LSU History.
Lack of imagination on offense after 2008 was his downfall. However, he still produced tough/talented teams.

They want us to have a buffoon as coach and to make fun of us.

Yes, but he still a buffoon and leads to others making fun of him.
That said, he is going to do very well at LSU, as he is a very talented coach and good fit for the current football era driven by $$$, egos, shifting power dynamics, and social media.

We are willing to overlook his faults if the results are good- just as everyone else would.
Kiffin is like the Josey Wales of college football, in that he "lives by the feud." I doubt that ever goes away, because he thrives off of it. Hearing others cry about him are his fuel.
