This should just be called the "explain why your teams' QB will lead in every category" thread.

And Marshall is 100% healthy right now. Said it last week.

He could in percentage but you do not have the best WR core
I'd argue that we do. We have 4 experience and talented wide receivers coming back. Mitchell, Bennett, Conley, and Scott-Wesley. Combine a Jr. Tight end in Jay Rome (caught a TD in the SECCG) and we have a VERY solid core of wide receivers. Mitchell is one of the most dangerous in the league and Conley/Bennett are outstanding pass catchers with plenty of yards and touchdowns between them.

. You have 1 of the 2 best RBs I'll give you that
We have THE best runningback in the league. A great supplement to him in Marshall and two 5 start freshmen who will also get carries. That's pretty stacked if you ask me. Alabama may be deeper on experience, but on talent, we're right there.

Slow down on WRs there. Murray made those receivers look good.

Marshall will be in Top 3 in all of these by the end of the season.

Leader in passing - 1. K. Allen, 2. Wallace 3. Thompson
Leader in rushing - 1. Marshal 2. Prescott 3. Driskel
Passing TD's - 1. Wallace, 2. K. Allen, 3. Mason
Rushing TD's - 1. Prescott 2. Marshal 3. Driskel
Completion percentage - 1. Driskel 2. K. Allen, 3. Wallace/Coker
Note about these rankings:
1. Completion percentage is a lot about the offense run. TAMU, UF, Alabama, and OM will all run offenses that provide a lot of "easier" short throws that leads decent QB's to have high completion percentage.
2. Marshal and Prescott are going to dominate the QB rushing stats as long as they stay healthy. I don't think anyone will even come close to them in terms of TD's. Driskel or Wallace will be a distant third, depending on who starts at QB for Vandy - because they have some runners at QB there.
3. I think Kyle Allen (or any decent QB that starts for TAMU) will lead the conference in passing. That, IMO, is the best offense in the SEC, all around, and should put up good numbers each year as long as the QB isn't garbage.

The strengths of Thompson IMO will be passing yardage and passing TDs. If he is healthy he could surpass Shaw's 24 TDs last season. However whether this makes him top 3 in the SEC next season in either category I don't know.
His completion % is probably the least certain aspect of being top 3: I expect it to be around 60% which will be a substantial improvement, but not much better than that.
It wouldn't surprise me to see something around 2,800-3000 yds, 60% completion, 25 tds and 10 ints...

Completion percentage is so predicated on system. I mean, the QB's have to not suck, but largely, system dictates that to a certain degree.
Driskel will not be a great QB, but he will be one of the best in the country in completion percentage, but that'll be mostly because most of the throws in this offense are short and quick, which play to his limited strengths.

I take Mauk out of top 3 in percentage and put him in rushing catagory. He is scary when he runs
Posted on 7/7/14 at 2:13 pm to Recruitingjunkie
Bo Wallace will have the highest completion percentage. When a QB only throws bubble screens, you tend to have a high completion percentage.

I have to agree. This is the most talent at wide receiver and running back that Mark Richt has had while at UGA. Moreover, the last time a UGA QB did not throw for 3,000 yards was Matthew Stafford's sophomore season (2007).
The only QB under Richt who was not highly successful was Joe Cox and he threw for 3,000+ yards and 29 touchdowns.
Mason will throw for 3,000+ and 25+ touchdowns

For starters, we have the best WR group in the league.
Auburn absolutely has the best duo. Now, depth wise, there are some questions to be answered but we have the guys there to have the best in the league.
But there isn't a duo in the conference that can match Dhaquille and Coates.

UGA is certainly loaded at the skill positions; I'm curious to see how they are on the OL.

We really need some guys to step up. I think we'll be okay, but "okay" won't win us a championship.
