Was it the #1 play or the #1 play "given the stakes"?
Put yourself in the game. BAMA was behind the entire game and a freshman was leading us in the second half. He just took a big sack for a huge loss and Smart was playing everyone in deep coverage. It looked bleak and this is OT for a Natty. When BAMA broke the huddle on 2nd and 26, BAMA had 6 true freshmen on the field and we completed this perfect pass from a true freshman QB to a true freshman wide receiver.
That is the stuff of legends and legends is what that pass and catch has become in the folklore of ALABAMA football history.

that might be the #1 play of the SECN era - but this best 2:12 of SEC football in the SECN era
Ed Oregon, what a character he was. He reminds me of an Alabama character named Shorty Price.
Oregon was dumb as a stick, mean, and didn't speak English but, entertaining.

So many plays better than this.
What about LSU 3rd and 17 against texas!

That was 2013. One year before the SECN era.
Kick 6 was my first thought, too, not realizing 11 years have already passed.
Now I feel old.

Given the stakes and how competitive the game had been? Yeah.
Was it the #1 play or the #1 play "given the stakes"?
So if some ridiculously amazing play came at the end of a Vanderbilt/Arkansas game when they had a combined 5 wins, you would say "hey this is the best... who gives a shite that the play meant absolutely nothing in the grand scheme, had absolutely no stakes and these teams are horrible. It's #1!!!!!!

Schematically speaking, what was #14 doing for Georgia? He's supposed to have the over the top help there. I can't see the whole play on that replay, and I don't remember seeing it live. Was there another route that fooled him, or was it just a busted coverage? Seems like a horrible play by him.

They actually ranked the Dobbnail Boot #2, which I think is fair given the circumstances of play #1.

You mean when georgia won the natty solely because Williams and Metchie were out?

I would submit this for consideration.

Such a beautiful throw. ..you have a future Heisman winner catching it but....that ball was so perfect that there was zero chance it was being dropped
