SEC network and SEC+

Why does the SEC even use these three channels if they only use one then shuffle everything else to sec+?
You would think that they could make more money off people using the two alternative sec cable channels. They don’t even have commercials on SEC+, it’s just a still screen when breaking

They should put baseball games on SEC Alternate. What's the point of having it other than occasionally watching a meaningless football game once or twice per season?

I’ve complained about the same thing. 99% of the time there’s nothing but dead air on the alternate channels. I don’t see the complication putting some baseball games on them. SEC + is useless to me.

The cable and sat companies have no incentive to use the band width for no extra money

If only ESPN was making enough money off the SEC Network, what a shame

Remember the poor guy that posted in August. They don't even have closed captioning yet.

Seems like it would help curb the problem with people cancelling subscriptions. I'm casting games to my TV, but it would be easier to just switch to an alternate channel.

I could be mistaken, but I believe the new ESPN+ app had something on every SEC Channel last night. I know when I was scrolling through to find our game they had pretty much every SEC baseball series plus softball. I was actually shocked at every series they had. Maybe if you have satellite it will kick in soon, but it may just be an app thing. It also could just be me getting used to the new app and not realizing they cover every SEC series. Haven’t checked this morning, but would be cool if there was more original programming during the day.
Eta: Just checked the app again for what’s showing today. Looks like the baseball and softball series on SEC+ and spring games on the original SEC network. Maybe they are trying to make progress. I have always been frustrated having the extra channels with blank screens when there’s plenty that could even be
re-aired.
Eta #2: I might have misunderstood your question after reading again, but I get what you’re saying. I’m also though very happy and satisfied after cutting all cords.

yeah I meant the other two alternative SEC channels that show on your cable guide. I appreciate the different responses though

I’ve only seen a couple football games a year on one alternate channel. That’s it.

For some reason the PAC 12 network comes with my sports package and they run 4 channels of programming all the time, not sure why the SEC doesn't do the same.

Do the alternate stations show live games?

Better yet take Paul Slimbaum off the 4 damn hours he's on 5 days a week and show more baseball...softball etc...Put Slimbaum on the radio only.

I've had Roku for a couple years now and just cut my cable recently when Youtube tv came out, which I run through my Roku. Has local channels, the news networks, mlb, about 50 or so channels including the SEC network without the alternatives. Pretty sweet deal and saved some greens every month. Just had to keep my internet connection to stream everything through. I don't know why they have those sec alt channels and never use them either, what a waste of resources.

Finebaum is on from 2:00-6:00. I doubt many schools want to play games that early during the week.

We had this discussion back when SECN first when on the air. SECN does not broadcast a dedicated alternate channel. Your cable or satellite provider merely has that in the channel guide as a place holder for those rare occasions when they need it. The cable and satellite providers aren't going to devote bandwidth to an alternate channel 24/7. That's one of the reasons the Pac 12 network has never really taken off--they demand too much bandwidth from the cable and satellite providers by having two channels.

How many hours a day does SEC Now take up? I checked it over the weekend and it was something like 4 straight hours each morning was SEC Now.
Surely they can find better programming than that. Old SEC games from the 90’s or something. There’s a great idea of doing a MST 3000 type show with old JP games. Something that would make you flip that channel.
I know he’s cost effective, but it still sucks that Finebaum is the face of that network and occupies so much airtime.
