I’m frankly surprised our record isn’t worse than that. We’ve had our fair share of dry runs in this damn thing.

ETA: surprising that only 3 teams have winning records.

I'm amazed Alabama isn't much closer to worst than we are to first. I guess they had some good runs in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s.

I feel the same way. I entered this post expecting OP to not even bother.

Im surprised Tennessee’s record is as good as it is considering I have never seen them win it in my lifetime. Im guessing alot of those wins came before they brought the tourney back in 1979.

Tennessee was 35-15 and 3 titles in the 19 tournaments pre-suspension of the event. 30-38 since 1979, including the 1979 trophy.

as for the Reb fan above...Ole Miss outta be happy they drew Carolina. Rebs are 5-3 vs USC in the event.

This is bullshite! Everybody knows that Alabama traditionally has a shitty basketball program.

The good: we've been in it 7 times in ~25 years when some teams been around forever and been far less

The bad: 1-6 what a poop filled record

this satire works perfectly with this face

Bama's been asleep largely since Derrick McKey went to the NBA.

Story of the 1980s, basically : Alabama wins in SEC Tournaments and LSU wins in NCAA Tournaments

Yep. For a decade it would end with Richard William's MSU team bowing out in the 1st round and Bama winning it or making a good run

Yes, outside of the 1996 team, in the 80's and 90's you could count on us losing in the 1st round, and a lot of times in blowout fashion.

It's truly incredible how LSU made the most of their NCAA tournament runs and Alabama lost every single time.

Sweet 16s (post-1970)
Alabama (8) : 1976, 1982, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1991, 2004
LSU (7): 1979, 1980, 1981, 1986, 1987, 2000, 2006

Elite Eights (post-1970)
Alabama (1) : 2004
LSU (5) : 1980, 1981, 1986, 1987, 2006

Final Fours (post-1970)
Alabama (0) : N/A
LSU (3) : 1981, 1986, 2006

Interesting that State is dead last in winning percentage but fifth in tournament titles and finals appearances.

Feast or famine.

I would imagine that we have Stansbury to thank for most, if not all, of the SEC tourney success we have had. He was the key assistant on the 1996 team as well.

Prior to 1996, our tournament record was 11-35. Below horrific. Just plain lousy, pathetic and any other description you want to choose that represents BAD.
Since ‘96, we are 19-19, with three titles so in the recent era, we have been competitive and good overall.

Plus effectively we won the 2010 Tournament but got robbed of it.
Before any of you jump on me, I fiercely defend the officials/referees and only a few times in my lifetime did I believe they affected the outcome of a game. This is one of them.

John Wall clearly enters the circle early and that should have been a violation and the game is effectively over.

How in the hell is LSU sixth in winning percentage? Seems way too high. That 5-21 semifinal record is comically abysmal.

Sad LSU has more Final Four appearances overall (4) than SEC tournament titles (1) and three Final Four appearances since winning the league tournament (1980).
