They went 7-1 with big wins over Cincinnati, Oregon State, & Saint Mary's to name a few.

Obviously I was at the Mississippi State- Cincinnati game and man that was an impressive Cincinnati team we defeated. Very physical team we played and we continue to shoot very well. My biggest concern with State going forward is rebounding. But Howland was saying in the preseason that was something he wanted to improve.

It's always nice to see Tiger High lose. What an offensive performance I was watching! Tennessee really made Memphis shut up.

I honestly have no clue how good Utah is, but a 20+ point win over a PAC 12 team is a great win Kentucky!

I saw it took OT for Auburn to win at UAB. But that is an instate rivalry with a good basketball school. I think that helps Auburn in the long run.

Georgia had a big lead over #20 Arizona State but fell short. ASU is Mississippi State's only loss. They are a good team. Nothing to sweat about Georgia.

I didn't watch this game. But I was impressed that Texas A&M went to Corvallis Oregon and defeated Oregon State. Anytime a SEC Team wins at a PAC 12 school is impressive to me. For whatever reason the SEC usually does poorly over there...

LSU I just want to say that was a hell of a win you earned. We played Saint Mary's, coincidentally at the same arena in November (They must like Las Vegas), and had to squeeze out a win as well. This well look good on Selection Sunday. Mark my words.

I like it when the SEC kills it in the OOC, it helps all of us for our NCAA/NIT Hopes. And it's that much sweeter when we beat traditional basketball schools like Memphis or Cincinnati. Keep it up SEC. We're going to send so many SEC Teams to the NCAAT that the other Conferences will start to whine about expanding the Tournament in this sport too!

I was born in Memphis when my parents were living in Senitobia, MS. So I pull for Tiger High over Tennessee every time. Hardeway will have them playing good soon, just like their football program.

Sorry! I use the score app and it said the game was in Corvallis.

Probably more fans in Portland than you would've had in a college town like Corvallis during Winter Break so an impressive win!

Saturday was definitely the best day yet for SEC basketball.... I still don't think it will do much to overcome the horrific start the league has had, but it was a much needed big day.

There is a big week ahead of us too...

Monday Game
Vandy plays #42 Arizona State

Tuesday Games
Mizzou plays #61 Xavier
Bama plays #89 Liberty
Florida plays #197 Mercer
Georgia plays #235 Oakland

Wednesday Games
S. Carolina plays #2 Virginia
Auburn plays #22 NC State
Arkansas plays #67 Georgia Tech
Miss St. plays #74 Wofford
Texas A&M plays #162 Valpo
Tennessee plays #196 Samford

Friday Games
LSU plays #98 Furman
Ole Miss plays #250 MTSU
Alabama plays #43 Penn State

Saturday Games
Kentucky plays #4 N. Carolina
Vanderbilt plays #23 Kansas St.
S. Carolina plays #41 Clemson
Auburn plays #62 Murray St.
Georgia plays #67 Georgia Tech
Mizzou plays #94 Illinois
Texas A&M plays #119 Marshall
Arkansas plays #131 Texas State
Miss. St. plays #140 Wright St.
Tennessee plays #144 Wake Forest
Florida plays #222 Florida Gulf Coast

That's 4 games vs. the KenPom Top 25
... 3 more games vs. the KenPom Top 26-50
... 8 more games vs. the KenPom Top 51-100
... 4 more games vs. the KenPom Top 101-150

Overall, 25 games next week. If the SEC cam go 18-7 next week I'll consider it a good week.

They are normally a very solid team but doesn't look so much this year. Still a good job of taking care of business.

VOLS must pick it up defensively. Been a little disappointed on that end so far outside of the Gonzaga game. Obviously foul trouble has forced us in to a lot of zone, but we aren’t stopping anybody when we’re in the zone. Our adjusted defensive efficiency is inching towards falling out of the top 25 and it must be in the top 10 by tourney time. I’d like to see us string together a bunch of good defensive games here before SEC play starts.

Offensively we have been sharp and efficient.

You don't give up until the conference starts, then you can give up

Except for that one week you play Baylor

Watched the game with my Brother in Law who is a Tenn grad and lives in Memphis. Damn, he was loving to see Penny struggle.

LSU another good chance to pickup a good resume win this Friday. Furman Top 30 in NET right now and undefeated. It is at home so wouldn't count quite as much, but would be a good win headed into conference play.

I love watching UT fans crow over a Memphis win, like it's a big deal.

They are in full rebuild mode. You're catching them two years early, and lucky for it.

You've got a nice little squad. Enjoy it while you have it.....and maybe you'll get that elusive final four berth this year. But the clock is ticking on your retread coach, so again, enjoy it while you have it.

Although I think Penny will have Memphis rolling in a couple of years. I don't blame Tennessee fans with being a little annoyed at the hype/talk at the moment.

Please -- As if a W over that shitty 5-5 Memphis squad is worth crowing over.

You sound MAD AF that Barnes has owned Howland/MSU & just hung a 100+ point C Note on a sold out FedEx Forum though.

The inferiority complex Memphis fans have is a big reason you see the crowing. Very easy targets.

Let’s not pretend this VOLS team is lightning in a bottle. Tennessee will have 7 of the 9 rotation guys back next year and add a 5* PG and a top 60 big man who is sitting out this year after reclassifying in the summer.

And let’s not pretend a Wiseman, Jeffries, Watford class is Cousins, Wall and Bledsoe. Do you think those tiny little guards + Wiseman and Watford are going to go in to Thompson Boling next year and punk Grant Williams, Bone, Bowden, Turner, Pons, Josiah James, etc. next year? It’s silliness.

Says he's not crowing about beating Memphis. Then crows about beating Memphis. That's a UT fan for you.

I would wait until after you play State before you run smack. They might be the best team on your schedule this year.

This is a valid answer. Memphis tears are the sweetest tears. They're so desperate to be relevant. Losing to them in anything sucks.

They are building a monster though. Watching them play, it looks like Hardaway can't coach a lick, so that's going to be their downfall, but talent won't be an issue for them, at least at first.
