True...and Alabama gets the worst of it.

Maybe your alums should take a little more time before hand-picking them

Ever consider that all sports officials are perceived to be bad by all teams because you only really notice them when they do something that you disagree with?
Also, LOL at a Bama fan complaining about refs (see what I did there?)

Ump for the LSU Auburn game behind the plate was terrible yesterday, both ways. His strike zone literally changed every pitch.

The only reason Bama has been so "great" lately is because of the officials. I put quotations around great because Bama isn't actually great. Solidly above average but the officials push them towards great with their obvious bias.

OP, who exactly is in charge of SEC officials in the League office? He's the bama clown who needs to have an "exit review" at the end of this sports' season.

I agree. But are they really worse than other conferences? I understand major league officials are far superior, so they make college officials look bad, but they are also compensated well. So college gets left with the mediocre officials.

51% of the SEC games we've won over the last 7 seasons have been by 21+ points, including twice against LSU. Suck it.

I have noticed that the official box scores for the tournament do not list the names of the umpires. They did list them for the regular season games.
I think the guy who worked the plate in the A&M-Vandy game was pretty consistent. I didn't care for his low, outside strike calls but he was consistent. I would give him personal accolades if I knew his name.
I forget the game ( I think it was Auburn and someone) but the crew screwed up a check/swing, stolen base call. Home plate guy should have never asked for help on the check swing, first base umpire should have never called the strike and the 2nd base ump completely blew the out call on the stolen base.
I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in the dressing room after the game. I bet they didn't have dinner together.

I know basketball refs are contractors, not league officials. They work several different leagues every year and are not tied to just the SEC. I believe umpires are the same way, but I'm not sure.
The issue in basketball is that the SEC doesn't pay as well as other conferences. In baseball, if they are contractors, I imagine we aren't getting the cream of the crop because of the minor leagues.
Good younger umpires are probably more likely to go to the minors in an attempt to make it to the majors than want to work college games.
So basically, we're stuck with shite in baseball. Basketball should pay more. And football....frick it. I don't even want to talk about football.

And four others against LSU in OT or in the final seconds; 3 of which LSU should have won and the 4th aided by an absolutely mystifying call that was even reviewed incorrectly (Peterson's INT in 2009 with """"""""""""""""""" T W O """"""""""""""""" feet in bounds. HTF does that work ??????????????
