CBS, fox and NBC made a terrible deal for them with what they paid the BIG. Sankey and the sec should use that as leverage to negotiate a more lucrative, compared to BIG, contract with ABC/ESPN. The sec wins when it comes to highest tv ratings and should use that going forward. So what are you bitching about bc your dumbass says the Commissioner and AD's know what is best but our TV contract pales in comparison to BIG's

Hey retard, the B1G has outmaneuvered Sankey at every step. It is a much more valuable conference and is doing better in the NIL era than the SEC because they have more money. The B1G has more money, in part, because they have larger alumni bases. 30 years from now, assuming Louisiana and Mississippi keep shrinking, do you think the LSU tigers or Ole Miss rebels will be top ten football programs? Use your fricking head for once in your life. The SEC has top brands now, but won’t forever unless something changes. NIL has completely changed everything.

If it's an exciting team people watch..everyone loves watching Chambliss..Hell I want to watch Northwestern because of all the crazy formations chip Kelly is running
College football has a stronger viewership in states with no pro team and a connection either state or alumni ie Nobody is getting fired up about watching Cal or Stanford..we are fine just need to drop that 9th sec game and go with big 10 matchup games

Please explain in your own words how adding Virginia makes the SEC more money or will make Espn renegotiate the tv contract for more money? Yes It will add the DC market and the SEC can charge in-market fees for all subscribers who have the SEC network in their tv or streaming plans in that area, but that’s not going to be enough to cover their share of the SEC tv money distribution is it? They don’t draw good tv ratings, even when they are decent.

damn you are stupid. The BIG is located where most people live dumbass. You are a chicken little crying the sky is falling bc the BIG won 3 titles in a row. Are you a woman...so overdramatic. Why does the sec top the BIG in tv ratings every year? Even though they have a much higher population of viewers? Explain that dumbass. How many BIG teams are spending more on NIL than SEC teams. If I was a Georgia alum I would be embarrassed by your comments...of course you probably didn't even go to college.

Birmingham, Alabama consistently ranks as the #1 college football market in the United States, though it is a smaller media market overall.

Top College Football Markets vs. Major Metros

Market / Region Nielsen TV Market Rank (Overall) College Football Fandom / Rating Status
Birmingham, AL #43 (approx.) #1 nationally in college football rating/fandom index
Atlanta, GA #7 Largest major top-10 metro with deep SEC and national college footprint
Columbus, OH Top-40 (Midsize) #2–#3 nationally, driven by Ohio State obsession

It would bring the DC market as well as Rutgers brought the New York for the B10

1. Birmingham, AL-Alabama / Auburn (SEC)
2. Columbus, OH-Ohio State Buckeyes (Big Ten)
3. Dayton, OH-Ohio State Buckeyes (Big Ten)
4. Greenville-Spartanburg-Asheville-Clemson Tigers (ACC)
5. Tulsa, OK-Oklahoma / Oklahoma State (SEC / Big 12)
6. Oklahoma City, OK-Oklahoma Sooners (SEC)
7. Atlanta, GA-Georgia Bulldogs / Georgia Tech (SEC / ACC)
8. Knoxville, TN-Tennessee Volunteers (SEC)
9. New Orleans, LA-LSU Tigers (SEC)
10. Jacksonville, FL-Florida Gators / Georgia Bulldogs (SEC)

These are the best markets in cfb according to neilson along with the team/teams driving the markets viewership.

By that I mean it would bring the in-market subscriber fees (which would be millions of extra dollars for the SEC for the DC market btw). And yes Rutgers does bring a huge amount of money in for the BIG, it’s literally the only reason they added Rutgers and Maryland.

Every tv subscriber in a market (cable, satellite, streaming) pays a fee for each channel BIG, SEC, ACC networks included. When a member school is located in one of those markets like Rutgers in NY for example, those subscribers pay extra for the channel. This amounts to millions of dollars for the Conference, and it doesn’t matter if those subscribers ever watch the channels either, if it’s part of their package they pay it.

Proof that CFB rules in the south. Not surprised. Also why I think CBS, FOX, and NBC made a really bad deal on their cfb tv deal.

Waddell? I live right next to it. You must be a coworker who is a Tide fan.

When are Arizona and ASU getting the SEC invite? I keep waiting for that inevitable discussion.

Virginia and NC also brings more exposure to DC and Maryland and between those 4 there is an awful lot of NFL talent from that area.

And by adding Rutgers they basically also get NYC.
And by adding Maryland they get D.C. and that entire area.

It's the Big10's world and we're just living in it.
They went WWE and we're still Georgia Championship Rasslin

We need to add UNC and UVA for the longterm viability of the conference

As someone who lives in VA, I can say that while UVA is bigger, VA Tech is definitely more aligned with the SEC's mentality.

They'd boost the basketball footprint a bit (UVA). Their baseball program is really good, but I doubt the SEC would look to make the season even more brutal.
