Large swaths of this country doesn't give 2 rips about college football. NFL DOMINATES TV viewership.

As I said earlier, adding powerful brands is helpful in the short term, but over a long period of time you want to add new territories and population centers. It’s the more stable move.
Some brands like Alabama and LSU have risen and fallen multiple times over the course of my lifetime. Other brands, like Nebraska and Georgia Tech, have fallen off and never returned.
We cannot predict which brands will be valuable in 25 years. The best way, therefore, to ensure the longterm viability of the SEC, is to add the flagship public universities from states that are growing rapidly (and are expected to continue to grow). We should also secure the state of Florida and not let the B1G into that rapidly growing state.

I would describe it as Waddell adjacent. I work in a casino. It's always good to meet SEC people out here.

Nobody is going to corner the New York, New Jersey or Massachusetts markets. You can somewhat make that argument for California too. Those states simply don’t give a shite. They’re “pro sports” states. Pennsylvania would be too if it wasn’t for Penn State
I think your major point is spot on. But I wouldn’t say people in “Pro sports” states don’t give a shite. My dad in San Diego is a great example. He’s just a football fan and will watch any competitive college football game regardless of the conference. I believe this is true for most football fans around the country.

Would also help to lock down the state of Florida by adding Miami and FSU.
Yeah.... suck my dick. That ain't happening as long as we're in the conference. It's like saying let's bring back Georgia Tech for you dumbass pups. shite I rather go independent. Guaranteed spot in the CFP for ND.

Let’s add the Sorbonne in Paris and also Trinity College in Dublin.
Gets us intercontinental viewership.
We can add men’s soccer.

Georgia Tech,
Has a huge metropolis in the Atlanta area and still can’t compete. You need more than population centers to excel at college sports

What about flagship universities in growing states did you not understand?

How do territories help tv ratings, and why would espn ever care about anything other than National TV ratings?

All you need now is money to hire the best coaches and players- location, history, conference, education- all irelevant.

Did the whole explanation about the rise and fall of brand names go right over your head?

I'll say it.
Thank you Lane Kiffin.

I'm betting you can get the SEC network and ABC/ ESPN in most of those states already and watch most of the SEC games you wanna watch if you're a fan. I get the majority of the games in AZ already..Why would they need to expand the conference all the way to Arizona or whereever?

quote:yes - their next round of tv negotiations will surprise every one of them when the $ is less than they're wishcasting - and budgets along with NIL aren't able to be met -
The death of the Big 10 is eventually going to be the different time zones and travel issues. You’re going to have schools leave them within the next 10 years because of it.
quote:that was wise credit to him - yes - he fortunately heard not just his presidents but our fan bases -
Love him or hate him, Sankey got the rule of making sure every SEC state bordering another right.
he should go one step further and add schools that enhance and elevate our natural fueds within the existing geography and absorb Clem FSU GT and bring in UNC for 20 -
if the PCSA that passed the Senate ends up dying in the House - go 4 more beyond the 20 cap to 24 total - with Duke UMiami Virginia Tech & Virginia -
SEC was ideal at 12 - and 14 16 18 and even 20 doesn't offer the flexibilty that 12 or 24 does - so if it ain't gonna be 12 may as well be 24 - closer to the OG SoCon member roots - pre 1933 -
let the big tin grasp and fail with random nonsensical expansion - from bizarre games with no history and even worse geography -

Hardly any big time football players come out of Jersey or NY. If you look at talent, Louisiana, Alabama, S. Carolina and Mississippi are way more valuable than NY and NJ.
