I don't even like going to 14. I would hate 18. It's just crazy the travel for the non-revenue generating sports with such a large footprint.

Their local markets don't matter that much, but you're being willfully ignorant if you think they don't boost ratings all over. That was the big draw with Oklahoma.
Expansion is about making your tv market more valuable.
You also have to consider that the Big 10 is pushing to overtake the SEC. That was why they took USC, they wanted to add another big name. The SEC getting Texas and Oklahoma offsets that, beats it even. But Clemson and Fla State are the prizes in the ACC, you don't want them going to the Big 10. If you have to, you take them yourself- and they do fit geographically within the conference.

For the life of me I cannot understand a Gator fan wanting FSU in the SEC. Did you break your head?
Look at how easy of a road they have in the ACC.

Anyone saying Va Tech instead of UVA is clueless.
I was about to state the exact opposite. Anyone who thinks UVA would fit into SEC culture hasn't lived in Virginia and worked with folks from both fanbases for the past 30 years like me.
UVA fans, also known as the wine and brie crowd, could give a shite about sports. All they care about is their lofty rankings and trust funds.
VA Tech fans are rabid fans. And, there's a whole lot more support for Va Tech statewide and in DC than Uva. Not close.

I think at least 2 of those will be in the SEC (if not all 4).
no balance between the east-west side of the State. That is why I like add one or two from the east. One of the second top football program in the State of Louisiana? Better for more thoroughly balanced conference. Bring in VT, FSU, and one of the North Carolina schools. Maybe add Cincy for Ohio market? I think they are too small of a school worth adding though.

Yep. Had friends who went to both, Ive partied at both, etc. Virginia Tech is by far the better fit overall for the SEC. UVA would be a good fit for Vanderbilt and Ole Miss perhaps, but that's about it.

UK coaches shows and games are broadcast in Cincinnati.

I do not see any logic to this. Just because one conference expands, does not mean other conferences have to as well.
Conference expansion mainly has to do with money. In the SEC's case bringing on more teams does not make any sense unless they increase the checks written to each of the existing members. We already have some members that benefit off of the popularity of others. That is also one of the things that makes the SEC great is the equal revenue sharing. Expansion is about making your tv market more valuable.
Why would the SEC want to add teams that do not bring anything to the table?
Because, unless something changes, the SEC & B1G will be the top 2 conferences. To which it'll be a head-to-head matchup in #'s. As much as you don't like it, you can't honestly say things would be fine if one side had more members than the other.

The alternative is smaller BUT MORE conferences. (& I haven't heard much (if any) push for that).

Catch is you can't control where schools are located. ex.: putting Mizz. in the SEC East (then again, the given limits of who COULD switch divisions created that scenario)

I agree. The TV market has to get enough viewers to make the additions worthwhile. Whether it be from their fans or their marketability, it needs to boost the SEC coffers enough that everyone makes money or at least does not lose any.

I think either of these teams could be worthwhile additions to the SEC, especially Clemson. FSU has been losing some of their national appeal for awhile. Coming to the SEC could give them a big boost.

Please rename and rebrand the conferences already!
