For a cherry on top, LSU Heismans in the decade = Zero, Florida = Tebow.
Tebow’s Heisman was media and stat-driven only. Tebow had 4 losses as a starter that year (including the bowl game) and threw a boneheaded INT off the helmet of his own player which gave Hester the opportunity to take over the LSU-UF game that year. That head-to-head performance alone should’ve put Hester as a finalist and not Tebow.
I’d argue that Tebow should’ve won it in 08 but he was not the best QB in CFB in 07. Terrible choice that year. Gaudy stats but couldn’t win the games that counted.
You gotta give the 2005 Tigers a lot of props for finishing with one loss and an SEC title appearance following Katrina. Probably the gutsiest team of the decade.
UF also loses the 2000s if the decades are counted 1-0 instead of 0-9. The head to head split goes to 5-5 if counted that way as well.

it was always florida and tennesee in the 90s. Third Saturday in September was the deciding game

Congrats man!! Best team in a shitty conference for 20 years with multiple Heisman trophy winners. Also, who were some of the teams you lost to those national championships?

That list is clickbait trash.
Ohio State has 3 national championships and 6 playoff appearances since 2000.
Yet they are ranked ahead of Alabama who has 6 national championships and 8 playoff appearances since 2000.
Oklahoma has 1 national championship (in 2000, so they just slipped in) and 4 playoff appearances.
Yet they are ranked ahead of Georgia who has 2 national championships and 4 playoff appearances. When they met in the playoffs Georgia beat Oklahoma.

Well done, but explain the 2000s. It looks like a tie, or do ties automatically just go to the author? Gators beat you in your championship season. Take that, Nicky!

Think we have a pretty good sample size OU and Texas re higher ranked than most historically in basbeall

I'd also flip UGA and AU in the 80s. NC carries more weight. Plus, UGA won 2 of 3 SEC titles outright. Au won 2 of 4 outright, and one was a 3-way tie. Plus, frick AU.
Even further more, Auburn started out the decade with two 5-6 finishes. UGA went to a bowl every year and finished above .500 every season but Goff's first in 1989 (6-6).
If you were putting together a ranking of teams for that whole decade, UGA's 1980-82 teams would be in the top five and the 1983 team would get strong consideration for the top ten. There were no dominant teams in the conference after 1983 IMO. I suppose one might could argue the UF teams under Galen Hall, but they were on probation for cheating and always seemed to blow it once they were elevated to being tops in the nation.
I'd rank the top 5 this way.
1. Georgia 1980- Only SEC national champion in the decade.
2. Georgia 1982- Only other team who played a game which was clearly for the national title.
3. Auburn 1983- A decent argument that they should have been the no. 1 team that year.
4. Georgia 1981- At kickoff of the bowl games, UGA was no. 2 and had a shot at a title with a Clemson loss and a Sugar Bowl win.
5. Tennessee 1989- One loss team, but never really in the hunt for a national title.

BAMA is the only SEC team with an SEC football title in every decade since the league was created.

They may claim one in most decades but they don't even claim one in the 50s and their 41 claim is among their most laughable.

Anyone that would bring a list to this board that doesn’t have Alabama at #1 is completely out of touch with college football. Stewart Mandel is a hack looking for clicks.
And… let’s see how OU does in the SEC over the next 10 years. I guarantee it won’t be any where close to what they did in the weak as Big 12.
OU got beat every time they had to face a good program after the regular season ended. Beating up on weak arse Big 12 teams and getting beat regularly in post season doesn’t make OU a great program.

LSU played in two sec titles - won two sec titles - played in two natties - won one Auburn played in 3 sec titles - won 2 sec titles - played in two natties - won one difference is auburn played in 3 sec titles total and 3 is bigger than two. seems to make sense
Auburn also went 0-8, 2-6, 3-5 during that decade in SEC play. LSU never had a losing SEC record in the decade.

I fricking HATE Bama and even I can admit any list without Bama listed #1 since 2000 is an absolute joke. Ohio State was the SEC's bitch for the majority of that time.
