Does this factor in non-offensive TDS?

I think his stats are specifically # of pts allowed on a drive/# of drives.

I don't know that for sure, but I'm pretty sure.

UConn allows a Field Goal or Touchdown on 59.6% of their drives. They and Oregon State are the only 2 teams in FBS that have defensive drives end in points more often than they don't (Oregon State is 52.0%).

That's..........something.

I'd be curious to see how it relates vs SOS. I think Clemson is still #1 in S&P+ for defense, but it's close.

I was as impressed with States defense when we played them as bama

We really only scored because their offense kept giving us the ball on their side of the field

I've noticed Florida fans no longer post in threads about defense.

Scoring ppg was about 15 in September for the Gators.

I think the past 4 weeks was 33 ppg allowed. Season average is up to 22ppg.

Who didn't see that coming?

I didn't give their back 7 enough due. They are an all around really damn good defense.

People continually talk about Florida's defense, for years now, like they are the same units and caliber of player Muschamp had in 2012 and Meyer before that.

It makes no sense.

My post is in reference to Grantham.
A coach who loves shutouts.
Who loves sticking it to an opponent for the full 60 minutes.
A coach with an NFL mentality where the stars play the whole game racking up stats.

The problem is that he doesn't develop youth. And the fan excitement from those dominant defensive performances crumbles when he is incapable of making an opponent 1 dimensional.

I enjoyed Grantham's defenses. Few things are as exciting as shutting out a bad Auburn team with the starters on the field the whole game. But playing a bad team with a vertical passing game turns that run defense into swiss cheese. Grantham controls the line of scrimmage with numbers (lots of run stops from his DBs). And when the numbers can't be in his favor, the defense doesn't work.

It is less about personnel and more about the inability to adapt the scheme with the personnel.

Their defense is unbelievable. I thought after the first two almost three drives Bama was going to destroy them but after the first three drives there was nothing to be had.

They really are. I was supremely impressed. They are a bit like LSU most years: great D, but wtf is going on offensively?

They are basically a full-time wildcat team. I actually thought Fitz looked better against us with his timing and accuracy. I'll be curious to see how he throws the ball against Arkansas and Ole Miss, two groups where he should have more easy throws.

Agreed, he looked a bit more settled against y'all, but outside of that...yeesh. And trust me, if it's one thing an LSU fans knows --- it's a bad offense when we see it.

His game against LSU is one of the single worst QB performances I can ever remember. I mean, LSU's DBs don't make it easy, but holy cow. He had completely lost confidence at that point.
