Looking at non-conference, SEC Powers have a chance to make a name for the conference in early season tournaments and beyond.

Champions Classic - Nov 6 - Duke vs. Kentucky
CBS Sports Classic - Dec 22 - Kentucky vs. North Carolina
Maui Invitational - Nov 19-21 - Auburn vs. Xavier with chance to play Duke/Zona/Gonzaga
NIT Tip Off - Nov 21 and 23 - Louisville vs. Tennessee with chance to play Kansas
Jerry Colangelo Classic - Dec 9 - Gonzaga vs. Tennessee
Advocare Invitational - Nov 22, 23, 25 - Villanova vs. Canisius, Oklahoma State vs. Memphis, Charleston vs. LSU, UAB vs. Florida State

Miss State vs Clemson - December 8
Auburn vs Washington - Nov 9
Tennessee vs West Virginia - Jan 26
Kentucky vs Kansas - Jan 26

Part of the reason for the SEC's recent success has been the league manning up and playing tough games. Overall conference RPI will be high and if conference wins most of these big name games....could look at getting 8 or 9 teams in the big dance this year.

Florida isn't ranked so they didn't get put on the list, but...

Florida has a big list of non-conference games.

@Florida State - Nov 6
vs West Virginia - December 4
vs Michigan State - December 8

Glad to have some basketball talk since I am a fan of a basketball school.

Love the early season SEC matchups this year.

Only team I think we won’t learn much about is Kentucky because they are always so talented and young. Are the wildcats replacing most everybody with incredible freshmen again?

They're pretty young. Most experience is at post and wing by far. Nick and PJ are both sophomores and also added grad transfer Reid Travis who was all pac12.

Bring back Quade at guard, but honestly we have some really good guard play this year, albeit young.

This group is surprisingly workmanlike and spends extra time in the gym every day. Usually don't see that as much in Freshmen.

The Duke game early is going to be interesting. Our guards are going to be very in-your-face on defense. Curious to see if that disrupts Duke's limited ability at point guard handling the ball with pressure.

Bama plays in the Charleston Classic with a chance to play Va Tech, Wichita St, or Purdue (App St, Ball State and Davidson also in)

Penn State and Arizona on the schedule as well as a few teams picked to win their conference.. Stephen F and Murray St.and UCF

Tennessee is going to skull frick Louisville, then handle to win vs. Kansas, Gonzaga, and WV.

Auburn will destroy Xavier and are could easily upset Duke, definitely beat Zona, definitely beat Zags, definitely beat Washington.

State will kill Clemson.

Our Duke game will be the epic freshman battle, but I think our experience edges us out to @ 8 pt win.

I don't think the UNC game will be that difficult.

I am not sure Kansas can run with us, and the FBI investigation may cripple their line up even more by 1/26

I hope so CoachDon...if the SEC had that kind of non-conference display of power...we might get 9 teams in.

SC has a pretty solid OCC, but I don't expect it to go well

Providence
George Washington/Michigan (tournament will determine opponent)
@Michigan
UVA
Clemson

So, we have a shot of playing Michigan twice. We did surprisingly beat the breaks off of them a couple of years ago...but that ended up being the Final 4 team that had Thronwell.

eta: And at Oklahoma St. for the SEC/Big 12 Challenge

I think Florid wins that one due to their guards.

Alabama will probably suck, but we'll have a chance to know fairly quickly in the Charleston Classic.

UF not being ranked is utter shite. We have a very good team.

That's the good thing about having a good conference. If you win those non-conf key games and win in conference...it won't matter.

Having several ranked teams in conference with good non-conference wins lets you climb up into the top 5 easy from not being ranked preseason.

More like Kentucky's chance to prove they're a top 5 program.

We are underrated coming into the year. This is White’s deepest team yet, excited to see what they’ll do against our tough OOC schedule.
