It’s easy to forget how Alabama and Auburn traded places during the 80s and some of the 90s. Auburn had a few Iron Bowl streaks.

People forget how dominant Florida was in the SEC with Spurrier.

No, we don't. Nothing but respect for the guy...He bleeds Orange and Blue like Kirby bleeds Red and Black, but I was very happy when he took the Redskins job.

Are you really a member of the Big 6 if you haven’t even won an SEC title in 28 years?

No hate on Tenner here

Longest streak between SEC football titles among Big-6

Bama - 1999 - 2009 - 9 seasons
Florida - 1933 - 1991 - 57 seasons (if you count 1984, then it's only 50 seasons)
Georgia - 1982 - 2002 - 19 seasons
Auburn - 1957 - 1983 - 25 seasons
LSU - 1936-1958 - 22 seasons
Tennessee - 1998 - Present - 28 seasons so far

With the exception of football not existing for Florida before either 1984 or 1991...this is the longest streak any of the "Big-6" have experienced. For some other SEC teams who have actually won SEC championships in football:

Ole Miss - 1963 - Present - 62 seasons so far
Kentucky - 1950 - Present - 75 seasons so far
Mississippi State - 1941 - Present - 83 seasons so far

Georgia Tech - 1952 - Present - 73 seasons so far...but haven't been in the SEC since 1963
Tulane - 1949 - Present - 76 seasons so far...but haven't been in the SEC since 1965

Auburn was the better program in the state during the 1980s. That is beyond question. They were 6-4 in the Iron Bowl and won four SEC titles to Alabama's two. However, in the 1990s, Alabama had re-taken the state as they went 7-3 against Auburn and won two SEC titles and a national title to Auburn's goose egg in both categories.

*The 1984 Florida Gators were forced to vacate their 1984 conference titles due to NCAA rules violations. However, it was won on the field so I count it here. Let the stone throwing begin.

If it was vacated, then it doesn’t count anymore (regardless of what happened on the field).

That's not how that works. Florida actually won the SEC title before it was taken away from them by the NCAA.

If the NCAA doesn’t acknowledge it, …

By some of the 90s, do you mean 1990?

Alabama went 11-1 in 1991 and won the national title in 1992. Alabama won the first three Iron Bowls in the 90s and went 7-3 vs Auburn during the 90s.
