They have a dozen or so from that era

SEC did not form till 1932 but Dores gave birth to all of us.

Now do that list in the last 50 years. Whole bunch of teams would drop down to zero.

Vandy of today is also Vandy of the old. Never good, never will be.

Has only won SEC championship been vacated? That surprises me

NCAA busted us early in the 84 season. SEC told us if we took our bowl ban instead of appealing we could still win the SEC. Then the SEC went back on their word in the spring of 85. Too bad the trophy is still in Gainesville.

SEC started in 1933. Vandy claims some mythical SoCon and SIAA "titles" from before then.

These 3 being so close surprise me. Would have expected either Georgia or Tennessee to have won more. But LSU is right there with them. Helluva an accomplishment

More like exact opposites

When Auburn is good, they are very good. Vandy will never know what that feels like. Never have, never will. They are the section 8 of the SEC. Destined to live off the success of others. Should have been kicked out of the conference before Tulane. At least they try.

Nobody has ever been kicked out of the conference.

Because Spurrier didn't arrive till 89 or 90.

Pre-Spurrier, Florida was on par with Kentucky and Carolina in football.

They were

Till the 1950's the Dores beat Auburn most all the time even tho the majority of the games were played in the state of Alabama.

SoCon did not recognize but if you went undefeated and were declared National Champion by todays standard you can claim it. In 22' Vanderbilt plays Michigan to a tie and went 8-0-1. Michigan was good back then with Fielding Yost as coach and did not lose a game that season. One of their few trips to Nashville and the "rent a win" did not work as planned.

As for Vanderbilt, 2 SoCons + 11 SIAA

In 55' they beat Auburn in the Gator Bowl 25-13. That may have been the last big run by VU3

I know the Bumbles were the big dog in Georgia back then but Georgia claims the 1896 Championship along with 1920 and 1921 in the SIAA. Of course the Bumbles claim 20 and 21 as well.

So, Kentucky lists 1951 and 1976 as their Conference Championship seasons...but 1976 was crazy.

First...Mississippi State beat Kentucky on the field, but later had to forfeit (which made Kentucky 5-1 in the conference instead of 4-2...this was when games were still forfeited, rather than vacated). This tied them with Georgia for conference record...but Georgia beat them by 24 points...still, they are listed as SEC co-champions for the season.
