I remember not long ago when a 4-5 million salary for a football coach was extremely high

Sabans starting salary in 2007 was 3.5 million and if i remember right it was the highest in the country at the time

Arkansas coach John Calipari: $8,000,000 - 1NC, 6-Final Four

Auburn coach Bruce Pearl: $5,958,852 2-Final Four

Tennessee coach Rick Barnes: $5,800,000 1-Final Four

Alabama coach Nate Oats: $5,018,045 1-Final Four

Ole Miss coach Chris Beard: $5,000,000 1-Final Four

Kentucky coach Mark Pope: $5,000,000

Texas A&M coach Buzz Williams: $4,600,000 Gone

Mississippi State coach Chris Jans: $4,200,000

Missouri coach Dennis Gates: $4,100,000

South Carolina coach Lamont Paris: $3,750,000

Georgia coach Mike White: $3,610,000 1- Elite Eight

Florida coach Todd Golden: $3,600,000 - 1-Final Four

Oklahoma coach Porter Moser: $3,200,000 1-Final Four

Texas coach Rodney Terry: $3,001,500 - Now Sean Miller with 4-Elite Eights, surprised that he doesn't have a Final Four.

LSU coach Matt McMahon: $2,805,000

Kinda crazy that 7 different SEC Coaches have a final four appearance. 9 Have at least an Elite Eight. And 0 coming from Kentucky (Currently)

First time that I can think of.

Arkansas is putting basketball above football.

The reason it is so high is that Arkansas was trying to send a message that we will take basketball more seriously and spend the cash.

In hindsight, he may not be worth it, but it probably is fair market value.
This is high stakes game. Coaches deserve every penny. College Basketball brings in billions. I have no problem giving a little bit to coaches and athletes. Not so sure the NCAA should be getting a big chunk though.

Nolan made more than Danny Ford for sure after 94 maybe before

Edit Nolan probably drew more fans than the football team at that time. Tickets for football then were like $10 so they could get folks to attend. Danny Ford sucked arse
