I think it is very, very close using the criteria in the article. Using something like buy games and weighing it equally to facilities or recruiting base is beyond silly.

Head to head

History/Tradition: Arkansas
Media Exposure: Not sure how this is quantified but both schools are on ESPN/ESPN2 virtually every game when nationally relevant and every game is televised somewhere no matter what when they're not relevant
Game Atmosphere: This is very close imo but I would give the edge to Arkansas. Was very impressed with the Bud.
Budget/Resources: VOLS have the third highest paid MBB staff in the country behind UK and Michigan State and the 5th highest recruiting budget.
Buy Games: Retard's criteria for P5 schools no one is being bought outside of maybe State. Ignore this.
Recruiting Base: VOLS
Facilities: Very close but we'll give the edge to Arkansas since the league's coaches did.
Selling Pros: Tennessee has more current players in the league (6-3), including a max player. More All Time NBA players and more HOFers. Add Barnes and Musselman to the mix and I think Tennessee is definitely selling the pros more than Arkansas right now.

Even recruiting base is basically a wash; Arkansas recruiting base in basketball is considerably better than in Football.

What good is a recruiting base if you can’t even make it to the second weekend lmfao

TBA doesn't get the national respect it deserves. One of the tougher places to play that doesn't get talked about enough.

Where did you see this? Would be interested in looking at a list like that.

Barnes definitely has more respect in the college basketball world today but Musselman has spent a ton of time in the NBA. Over 10+ plus years in the NBA as an assistant or coach.

Before Donovan, Florida would have been way farther down this list.

Interesting exercise, but remember in the ACC version of this Louisville ranked ahead of Duke and UNC

Yeah, lot of generic "SEC assistant coach" quotes, so I'm going to say this is not a great ranking system.

Pretty clear number 1 is Kentucky, but after that, it looks like there is pretty heavy dose of recency bias. Tennessee over Missouri and LSU is absurd.

Musselman

Absolutely no bearing on the subject- but regarding the wives thread for the football coaches the other day. I realized I had never seen a pic of Morris' wife til then and he's been here a year.

I saw Musselman's pretty wife like immediately upon the hire. Maybe, granted, a bit of it was capitalizing on the fact that he's happnin and is in an interracial marriage and the fact his wife is a hottie and worked for ESPN.

Random nothingness for Friday above.

How did we get a 1 in every category but recruiting base, which was a 3. Legitimately, the entire country is our recruting base as well as overseas. Should have been a clean sweep

Starkvegas is used to getting bashed around but State has seemingly held our own in basketball over the years. We have had some dry runs here and there but we are certainly not #14 overall. 6 SEC Regular Season Championships, 3 SEC Tournament Titles, a decent number of NCAA and NIT bids.

Coaches like Babe McCarthy, Richard Williams, Rick Stansbury and currently Ben Howland have recruited well and have had very good teams. So the town must not be too bad. Coach Howland left the LA area to move to Starkvegas and he loves it.

But please keep on believing that. We enjoy that it is the best kept secret around and we don’t too many people to find out the truth and start moving on to mess it up.

Jeff Goodman hates Mississippi State. He went on a Twitter rant after Rick Ray was fired (worst 3 season stretch in State basketball history) claiming he wasn’t given enough time.

Yeah putting Mississippi State 13th in history/tradition seems kind of extreme. I'd argue that they have more history and tradition than UGA, A&M, USC, and AU

Mississippi State isnt last. That was dumb of them. Theyve had some great runs.

Ole Miss and Auburn are the two worst in the SEC overall. Id say Ole Miss is the worst, then Auburn, and then Georgia.

How would I rank the SEC jobs overall based on the criteria?

Kentucky
Tennessee
Florida
Arkansas
LSU
Alabama
Missouri
South Carolina
Mississippi State
Vanderbilt
Texas A&M
Georgia
Auburn
Ole Miss

Edit.....Im talking about overall, throughout history, and including resources, fan support, results, etc. Auburn is obviously a decent spot right now. But Georgia has more advantages. They SHOULD be in a better position, easily if they werent such dipshits.

Mississippi State has put out some pros, but the job ranks in the bottom two in the league in history, TV exposure, recruiting base, facilities, game atmosphere and budget.

Yep, State fans definitely give a frick about basketball. Weve definitely enocountered some rowdy and hostile crowds in Starkvegas.
