Hopefully this shitty BasketVOLS team is put out of their misery soon.

Drawing Mizzou, Vandy, OM, A&M, UGA, SC all in the first 7 league games is pretty funny but when the calendar flips to February Prick will face the music that comes with taking a few years off on the recruiting trail.

...

Weren't you guys talking about winning the SEC prior to the start of the season? What happened?

Lawd I'm glad I love Oats so much because I'd have some serious #ForbesEnvy when he gets hired next year if Oats wasn't doing such a good job.

Uh, no.

Roster is terrible. I don't think anyone expected this team to be more than a bubble team and then Turner got diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome.

Go back and look at the classes we've signed since the Williams/Bone/Bowden/Fulkerson class and you will see why we are so bad this season.

State has a sneaky easy finish to their schedule. They have Oklahoma, Florida and Kentucky coming up - but after that, they finish with 8 of 10 games against teams below them in the NET, Bama and Arkansas (both winnable) are the other two.

Warren Nolan is predicting State to finish 12-6 in conference after an 0-3 start and have a #32 NET ranking - that would put them in the tournament as an 8 or 9 seed.

We will have our deepest team of the Barnes era next year headlined by 4 NBA guys. If he can't win anything with that group he will probably start to feel some real heat.

If we get 20 wins we are easily in regardless of who we beat.

Find me a past NCAA Tournament team from a Power Conference that has gotten into the Tournament with one lone win over another team in the Field. It doesn't usually happen.

I'm not saying its impossible, but I'm not sure its as simple as getting to 19 or 20 wins. A lot of what the committee looks at is who you beat and who you lost to.

Right now Bama has four losses to teams outside the Field.... and one of those, Penn, is looking particularly worse with each passing day. The way bad losses are overcome on a resume is with solid wins. Again, if Bama closes out the year with one win over another At-Large Tournament team, I'm not sure that's enough to overcome four losses to teams outside the field.

State and Richmond are wins on Saturday away from being in the field as at-large teams - which would give us 3 wins over at-large NCAA teams to go along with a Top 25 schedule and wins over 2-3 teams who will probably win their conferences and finsih with Top 75-100 NET rankings (Belmont, Furman, Stephen F Austin).

So, yea, we probably will need to win against LSU and/or Arkansas at home (mainly because we'll probably drop road games to Auburn, State, LSU and possible UGA), but 20 wins with our schedule and 8 Q1/Q2 wins and it would be a shock to be left out. Especially with terrible resumes all over the place and the fact that all our bad losses would have been in the first month of the season.

Either way, there is still a long way to go.

Barnes is a good coach but he still seems to have that stigma of underachieving in the tournament stuck to him. It will be interesting to see how good of a seed he can get next year and what he does with it.

According to team rankings, Bama is 90% to get in with 18 wins, 98.6% with 19 wins, and 99.9% with 20 wins.

They seem safely in at 20 wins.

Yeah both of the last 2 years they've failed to get the 1 stop needed to win a tournament game in the last 5 seconds. Loyola hit the circus shot to win by 1 and then Purdue got fouled shooting a 3 to force OT.

Barnes' teams are always elite or close to it when it comes to 2 pt defense, but it seems that comes at the expense of 3P defense. Teams who get deeper in the tourney are usually hot shooting teams so that's my theory for why he doesn't do as well in that setting.

Next year they should be a very good perimeter defensive team so maybe he can break through but it's frustrating.

It’s so obvious that Florida will fire White, hire Forbes, and dominate the conference for the next 5 annums.

No way - White is going to go 22-10 and get a 5-9 seed from now until eternity. We're safe.

Forbes is gonna go to Georgia Tech after they fire Pastner this year and wreck shite.

Yeah. That's another way of getting there. If Richmond especially could get into the Tournament picture it would help Bama's resume greatly.

Richmond's next two games are against Dayton & VCU. They have to win at least one of those to stay in the picture because the A-10 is likely only a 2-bid league this year.

Mississippi State is very similar to Bama, only I think their resume is even a bit weaker.

GAMES AGAINST LIKELY TOURNAMENT TEAMS:

Loss to #16 Villanova
Loss to #19 Auburn
Loss to #23 LSU
Win over #35 Arkansas

Like Bama, they are 1-3

LOSSES TO TEAMS OUTSIDE THE FIELD:

Loss to #38 Alabama
Loss to #93 Louisiana Tech
Loss to #109 New Mexico State

The main difference in Bama and State's resumes is the fact that Bama won the head-to-head matchup..... and Bama's win over Auburn looks a bit stronger than State's win over Arkansas, who is flirting with bubble territory themselves.

It's going to be an interesting finish for sure.

Yea, lot of games left between all these teams too.

Just glad to be in this situation - didn't think we'd be realistically discussing it after the Bahamas trip.

We will see a week from now, Arkansas needs to win the next two and they are back on track. 13 games left and 8-5 should do the trick.
