So you overpaid.

He knew that roster was crap.
Unfortunately for him, he's not getting the same Alabama roster that he probably anticipated he would.

But Dan Lanning was the first choice, according to this board... Why was Byrne meeting with Deboer, the night Saban retired? The Seattle newspaper is obviously wrong

DeBoer knew he was going 6-6 next year with UW, cashed in while his stock was highest.

He did a terrible job babysitting Kiffin, from what I’ve heard. Likely why Kiffin’s blackballed at Bama

LMAO... did you ever finish paying Chizic? How about Gustavo Malzahn with his extension; Harsin? Your folk know all about over-paying....

No wonder we couldn't afford to keep Caleb Downs.

Cashed in? He turned down 9 million a year to coach a team that is used to one good season every 5-7 years. Sounds like he took advantage of an opportunity to coach the premier program in college football history.
Also. It would make zero sense for the Alabama AD to be meeting with DeBoer and his wife within hours of Saban’s retirement unless he was at the top of the list.

Coaching searches are so fascinating. Fans of team looking for a coach ignores all the reports that paint the search in a bad light and treat other articles as the gospel. Fans of everyone else do the opposite.
In reality, no one knows or will ever know how the search transpired outside the Alabama AD, the coaches interviewed, and their agents.

I'd took that easy money to GTFO of Seattle...

So Alabama knew in advance that Saban was retiring. How long did Bama know before Saban announced? Bc if they were talking to DeBoer the same night as the announcement, they must have been in contact way before the championship game.

meeting with DeBoer and his wife in his Seattle hotel room
The head coach of the university located in Seattle had a hotel room in Seattle?

With that buyout he’s set for life.
I mean. I haven’t seen contract details, but I’d be pretty tempted to hang everything up for 50 million.

Makes you wonder how much Alabama had to pay to money whip him into coming to Tuscaloosa.
