I invite everyone to go read NCAA v Alston. The only thing that is "illegal" is for the NCAA, in any way, to attempt to limit how a player is compensated. The NCAA can have a 'rule' that NIL can't be a recruiting inducement, but if they try to enforce that rule, a unanimous SCOTUS has made it very clear that the NCAA will lose in court. Rules like that will never be enforced because they can't legally be enforced.

If an NIL collective representing an NCAA member school breaks that rule, the player will be ineligible to compete in an NCAA sport. Right?

if you watch the video, stricklin elaborates that it's illegal under the state law of florida. he doesn't talk about the ncaa.

The NFL, MLB, NBA can enforce such regulations because the players agreed to it in collective bargaining. There is no such agreement currently in College sports.

Looking forward to see who our next football, baseball, and basketball coaches will be in 3 years with all the losing we'll do if this attitude keeps up.

Well this is just false.

If you think the supreme court legalized pay to play in college, you plain out don't understand the ruling.

There's no regulation on a professional athlete's rights to their NIL or any endorsements they choose to engage.

A month and a half to let the bidding wars marinate. Every kid says it's not about the money, but every person knows it is all about the money.

The point being the only way there can be any enforceable regulation is if the players agree to it.

There is a difference in allowing a player go market his name and image with a legitimate business and allowing boosters to pay high school players to sign with their team.

NIL regulation is likely to fall to conferences. The SEC, with a 3/4 vote, can exclude any school. Since the vast number of college coaches and administrators support regulation, a 3/4 SEC vote would be easy. If a team doesn't want to abide by SEC regulations, they would be free to go independant or another conference. Good luck finding a conference that doesn't support regulation. Likewise, individual players won't have to agree to a collective bargaining agreement. Sign with the relatively few rouge progams that aren't regulated, and without a lucrative tv contract. Those rogue programs will quickly learn they need the conference more than the conference needs them.

Some of you lack the foresight what unregulated NIL will do to the college game. Thankfully the vast majority of coaches and administrators aren't as myopic and it will be regulated. What exaclty it will look like remains to be seen, but regulated it will be.
