Does that mean he’s the only field on campus?

It just means that Scott Field is just better than Tiger Field or any other football field in the country for that matter.

Will they have to take his name off the field. They are going after Dudy Noble and Duke Humphrey.

I'll give you that. The playing field itself has no equal in either college or professional football. Every player I've ever heard talk about it (whether from State or a visiting opponent) has said it's the perfect field. Never too wet, never to dry and hard.

The "bath tub" design has made it a one of a kind sports field rivaled by no other. Essentially, the field was excavated and a '"bath tub" was installed beneath the playing surface, then a programmed select fill of soil was used to fill the tub, allowing the field to drain quickly as well as being able to raise the level of the water beneath the surface to keep it in optimum condition for games.

Thus far, no one else in the country has matched this.

I give State an A+ for the design and implementation. Well done, ya dirty, rotten, filthy cowbell ringing rednecks! :D

Having been on quite a few fields, MSUs does take the cake. That is the smoothest grass I've ever felt. Surprisingly one of the worse I've been on was the Titans stadium for the MCB.

It was just amazing to me that a CFB teams field could completely outclass a NFLs

That's the closest thing Mississippi State has to an actual national title.

State has their own type of grass as well, do they not? Yeah, I'll give them that - that field surface is top notch.

Yes. State has a hybrid turf that they grow. Also used at the Rose Bowl and a half dozen MLB ballparks.

Don't they have the best turf grass management program in the country?

It’s well thought of. Stanford and MSU are the best. Lots of golf course supers across the South went to MSU.

Dude, I agree with you and yes many articles have been written about Scott field but what you are doing in bringing attention to our field is this; now someone is gonna go research the name Donald Scott who was an Olympic distance runner and played football for Miss State 100 years ago.

So now they gonna find something racist about him and we gonna have to change the name.

We have a rig in right field at Dudy Noble and when we were doing our initial move in to the new stadium the head turf grass guy was there. I asked him about the playing surface and he told me that DNF and Scott Field both have been redesigned to drain 3 inches of water per hour.

I forgot who we were playing but it had down poured right before first pitch and usually the outfielders will have mud and water splashing on the back of their pants but not now. Mangum even told us he couldn’t tell the grass had gotten wet.

What those guys do with some grass is wizardry.

I know a guy who went to Miss State for turf management and got a job maintaining the Red Sox baseball field during the season.
