never. you're an adult, make your own choices. if you don' want to go to your sister's cousin's friend's 3rd wedding then don't.
I've missed weddings, funerals, etc. for football games and don't regret it.

Welcome to the SEC. We don’t schedule stuff when our team is playing. It was the first consideration when my wife and I were picking dates for our wedding. It’s common courtesy not to screw up someone’s football weekend.

Had a buddy who scheduled his wedding on the day of the Tennessee/Florida game.
In the reception he had big screens placed throughout the venue for people to watch...so I got to see Alex Brown get 5 freaking sacks on Tee Martin and Florida win by 2 points...but there was an open bar, so it turned out ok.

I’ve seen that done, but a lot of people invest a lot of time and money into tailgating or traveling to away games.

My niece by marriage was trying to decide the date of her wedding this year. I handed her an Ole Miss schedule and told her I was busy on these days. She scheduled it for a bye-week.

I’d ask this fan. In 20 years when your brother is divorced you will regret missing the game more. Imagine Jackson Arnold driving team down field for winning TD in last minute and you missed it, for a marriage that has little chance of working.
And I’d say he can’t be too close to his brother else he’d have picked another day.
Someday you will be able to send your hologram to things like this.

Well, to be honest, weddings shouldn't be a thing at all. People that want to get married should just elope and leave everyone else out of it.

I do not disagree. It’s for the wives and their moms.

Mrs. Zwin and I were married on a November Saturday.
A&M played on Thursday night that week.
Got to enjoy watching the game with wedding buddies, get married, and stick it to other fanbases, all in one.

What would be better for the wives and moms is not to deal with the mountain of shite to plan a wedding. I'm cutting my daughters a check to run away somewhere and get married. We will all end up better off financially if they do.

that's great but still a novice move.
The pro move is understanding that inevitably, without fail, there will be multiple times in your life when your anniversary falls on a fall saturday.
There are roughly 40 other weekends in a year to get married. Still don't know why people insist on doing it in the fall.
"But it's pretty and the weather is nice!" Same can be said for spring, and unless you're getting married outside none of that matters anyway.

Meh...we lost the game, it would have been a long trip to Gainesville, there was an open bar...it turned out ok.

Why would anyone want to go to a wedding of people who scheduled it on a big football weekend? Just get some BS gift, ,send regrets, enjoy the game..

No dying, birthing or getting hitched allowed from September (or Aug 31) to February. These are the rules.

We scheduled our wedding around football season. On a date after the regular season and before bowls. Then Covid fricked that whole plan up. So we ended up getting married on the same date as the sec championship. But on the high side the whole wedding party pre-gamed the wedding by watching the game. Service started right after.
