Those are the likely permanent opponents if we go to a 3-6 model, but I think that a 1-7 model will get used in Year 1 & 2.

or something like that..

Alabama Y 1 & 2 Example
Perm: Auburn
Florida
LSU
Oklahoma
Missouri
Ole Miss
Tennessee
Vanderbilt

What important games are missed using this schedule for years 1 & 2?

Play + Perm
Play the other 7 on the same side

And for the record.. this is just my opinion of what will happen.. I would be perfectly happy playing a 1-7 or a 3-6 or a 5-5 or whatever as long as OU is on our schedule.

They also could keep divisions for a few years and throw Texas in the West and OU in the East, and play a 9 game schedule. Maybe they rotate in Year 2 or 3 so that all teams play Texas and Oklahoma.

Makes no difference to me.

Seems less likely than:

Group 1. Group2
Alabama. Tennessee
Auburn. Georgia
LSU. Florida
Ole Miss. Vanderbilt
MSU. Kentucky
Texas. Oklahoma
A&M. USC
Arkansas. Missouri

I've heard some Scar fans would want to add UGA? I'm not sure who they would drop.

Most SC fans I know are fine with whoever for the permanent opponents. Clemson is the only absolutely necessary team needed on SC's schedule.

yeah, that idea would work the same way, and you are right, listing it that way would make more sense.

and it’s a way to buy 2 more years before having to make a decision, or to hold onto leverage against ESPN for adding a 9th game

They’re not gonna give LSU Alabama and Oklahoma on their permanent schedule. Look since the SEC has expanded and rumors of further expansion, either drop the permanent or make an equitable schedule for all teams involved.

Georgia has played Kentucky more than we have played South Carolina.

We've played Auburn, GT, Florida, Vandy, and Kentucky more than we have played South Carolina.

We've played south Carolina 10 more times than we've played Clemson.

Perhaps...it's not all about us?

SC has played uga more than any other SEC opponent. We are their 2nd most played game in history only behind Clemson. Putting 3 SEC opponents together for SC and NOT including uga is just head scratchingly stupid.

Not to mention you'd ALSO be taking away the UK/UT game. Kentucky has played UT more than they've played any other SEC team and it's actually not really all that close.

Oklahoma and Missouri will be playing on rivalry weekend is my understanding.

When pushing a narrative about scheduling, it should be about us.

Otherwise you play @ auburn 2 years in a row.

That solves things then, doesn't it?

OU plays Missouri
Texas plays Arkansas
LSU plays the Aggies.

Yep. UK fans have no beef with Georgia. I don't see a rationale to make us a permanent opponent for UGA. UK fans definitely want Tennessee and Vandy, both because we have series with each dating to the 1890s.

A third permanent opponent really depends on the UK fan you ask. I think South Carolina or Missouri would be solid, either way. I know a lot of UK fans list Florida as a team they hate, but I don't think Florida fans feel the same. Even if they did the Gayors have several opponents that make more sense for them.

Kentucky Tennessee and Vanderbilt all three have a long history with each other. That needs to be respected when these permanent are decided. No offense to Mississippi State, who's our West perm right now, but we generally like you guys. I see no reason to keep forcing that series.
