I think this is what's driving the mizzourites crazy. They don't perceive reality in this situation as fair.

Lol the only people who think SC is the better job are South Carolina fans and the people on trant that hate Mizzou after the SJW incident. Missouri is and always will be the better program in football. We know, you know it, and the world knows it. Better program = the better job. This isn't rocket science but unfortunately you're too stupid to understand that.

Well we're going to find out soon.
Ray Tanner's been calling commitments and one of them confirms that he was told the decision will be made "in about three weeks."

I guess we'll have to wait and see how the two hires go then young man.
What I doubt you'll see between now and then are any SCAR fans giving a fat rat's butt about what Mizzou is doing or who they are hiring.
Have you seen any of us, or any other fan base for that matter, ask any Mizzou fans about who y'all are going to hire?
And I would imagine you'll especially not see any of us stalking your Mizzou board for coaching info or starting threads on tSECr (it's not "trant" noob) about the Mizzou search process.
I'm pretty sure this thread tells everyone, once and for all, all they care to know about how insecure Mizzou is as a fan-base though.

It's a higher profile conference and job.
Easy, now. Unspoken Rule of the Rant No. 73982 is that we don't say anything positive about the South Carolina job.
Dantonio is ubiquitously loved and respected by USC fans, but the likelihood of him leaving Michigan State at his age is simply quite low. Now, if he showed true interest and made it clear that he would leave, then yes, he's the best available coach on the market. As it is now, he's the kind of guy that we'll re-adopt as one of our own with a ceremony on gameday in about 10 years.
To the original OP, the USC fanbase at large will be disappointed if Herman spurns the offer. But that said, most of us would be thrilled with Smart (likely), Fuente (not as likely), or Campbell (can't see him saying no). We haven't been through a coaching search in earnest since 1998. We literally do not know how to act in this process.

Long as the coach is one of the following 3: Herman, Smart or Fuente I'll be doing just fine.

I think both jobs should be very desirable to alot of good coaches. Whoever is hired in both locations should be thrilled to take on the challenges and rewards of building and guiding SEC programs. The nit picking and insults I will leave to the posters in this thread. Coaches know though they need to bring their A game in the SEC, not only in recruiting, but on the field performance.

Fuente seems like he's going to Va Tech

Missouri and SC aren't even going after the same coaches probably. This thread is dumb.

I guess it's a matter of perspective, and also coach vacancies. Both schools should have some built in advantages though being in the SEC.
USC west is obviously better than both, and then you have the next tier where I would put both Mizzou and Scar at. I just think both schools should be able to attract very good coaches being in the SEC.
I do think Scar right now may be the better destination with the leadership uncertainty at Mizzou.

Are they top 25 jobs?
No. There are 14 schools in the SEC.
The South Carolina job is 18th in the conference behind Clemson, GT, Tulane, FSU, and Sewanee.
Therefore, impossible to be a top-125 job.

Nah, Washington State is a better job.

I feel like Leach would get destroyed in the SEC.

Leech might get destroyed in the SEC, or he might have Petrino like success. Either way, he's an interesting enough character that it would be fun watch.
