Here’s what I don’t understand about Auburn:
You had two coaches Gene Chiznick and Gus Malzahn. One of them won you a national championship the other played for one. They both loved Auburn. Both loved living in Auburn and both would have stayed at Auburn 20 years if given the opportunity. What did you do? Fired both of them
Compare that with Freeze. He looks miserable on the sidelines his press conferences are bizarre. Frankly, the guy looks like something is physically wrong with him like he has an illness of some sort? I don’t know. It’s all just really weird and strange.

Good thing Freeze doesn't have the worst record of any Auburn HC this century or anything. He just needs more time! Give the man more time!

At the whore house?
Offensively, Freeze is so bad right now, he won't be able to score in that whore house with a wallet full of 100s.

quote:May be he's tired of Bama reporters asking him why he can't control his QB from the sideline with a PS5 controller. How would you look if you have half a team of players that aren't fully sec ready and a QB that does what he wants?

Aside from the QB, look at all the reasons plays fail when a good play is called. Guys wide open drop it. Penalties call it back. Players run the wrong route. The Line collapses. Yeah players have to be coached but they also aren't going to know everything as a freshman or be good if they aren't great players to start with. He has very few experienced sec level players to work with and those things are going to lead to all of the above.
I know it's way over haters heads' that Freeze was left in a pile of garbage that coaching can't fix but that's what it is. It only gets better with getting more recruits and a better rosters. Watch who is making the plays 90% of the time one is made. It's his recruits and not roster fillers he was left with.

Preseason all SEC RB was just an illusion. Luckily Freeze could see through all that so he could put the team on his QB’s shoulders. The results have been a coaching masterclass.

quote:2 wins over Alabama and the first Sugar Bowl win in 40 years. When Freeze is fully engaged and bought in he is a dangerous coach that can beat anyone. I think that’s part of his problem at AU. He loves recruiting and is just naturally good at it. But I don’t think he loves Auburn, it’s boosters and fanbase like he did/does Ole Miss.
And had what exactly to show for it? 10 win season? Peach Bowl win? Choked away the West ?
Not that I think it would ever happen but if Ole Miss called him to come home, I think we would have a decent chance at poaching him. He has said repeatedly Ole Miss is his dream job and his destination job. He was born in and grew up 45 minutes from Oxford and grew up an Ole Miss fan. That’s why I think he was so good and was able to elevate the program before it came crashing down. He cared about the program on a personal level like the fans do.

But I don’t think he loves Auburn
I think he does like Auburn, but the problem is the parts he likes are his megachurch, hanging out with his daughters & grandchildren and playing golf.
Those are all fine things of course, but he doesn’t have the fire he had at Ole Miss, where you could see every press conference he believed it was him vs the world. Part of getting older for most people, priorities change. Just not compatible with being an SEC football coach…
(Without mentioning that even at his best, he was a stubborn play caller who liked to drop games against overmatched teams)

Wrong. But good wishful thinking on your part.
The situations are drastically different. Bama has talent on hand and it seems like the team is turning the corner on what the coaching staff wants done.
Auburn on the other hand seems like a bunch of misfits whose mentality is...I'm gonna get mines... but damn you were all warned from the rant about what you were getting into with Freeze. After 2 years the clues are there to see yet you ignore them. Enjoy the bottom half.

Yeah I think that’s a fair assessment. I don’t think he dislikes the university or anything. I think hes just kind of “meh. Oh well”. Which is unacceptable for a program like that.

quote:Its likely the difference is that when he was at OM and winning they hyped him and treated him like a god and now he's at Auburn and not got anything going yet and the stress is showing. No coach is going to look happy losing and having to answer questions about it. He hasn't dug out of the mess he was handed and been constantly having to answer for it.

Losing his best recruiting assistant, Backpage, to the feds was a tough break.

This is what I don't understand. You have a RB go for almost 300 yards on the road against Kentucky last week and then you come back home the very next week and barely utilize him
