It's not silly and we ARE happy to be done with Mizzou. I'd wager that they are happy as well.

To call this a rivalry is forced. Hard to argue that.

OBC hasn't even disparaged us over the last month and we are the first game

It's possible this may turn into a rivalry, but not now and there should be no trophy.

No way. No university has given more to another university.

We gave them a pile of wins, a recruiting pipeline to Texas (or at least we kept it running), a top notch chancellor, and a way out of the Big 12.

There should be a statue of a collie somewhere in Columbia.

just because you're banished up there doesn't mean the world of CFB revolves around you and your wayard stationings. I want to see more SEC E teams.

Bowtie should commission that statue of a collie.

So they're "cowards" for going to a superior football conference?

Yes, that is the real reason they left. The big 12 was so weak that they were a bottom feeder for the last ten years in it.
They wanted stronger competition or........

They left because big brother was beating the crap out of them. And OU and big brother were out recruiting them every year. So they ran away from their number one rival.

I believe OP intended this as a discussion between the two fanbases involved.

To LSU fans butting in here:

LSU will play when the Aggies say we will play.

This doesn't make a bit of sense. Why would we "run" away from those two into the arms of the SEC that has six programs of that caliber? That is like running away from a rapist and into the arms of a rape gang.

Lets call it as it is: We came to the SEC because we wanted a conference with a more stable footing (we were third to leave not first), and it pisses you off because we are already higher in the SEC pecking order than LSU.

Some of the fans in this conference fixate on the strangest things I've ever seen.

This is a rivalry.
This isn't a rivalry.
This is the best rivalry in cfb.
This game has a better trophy.
This game doesn't need a trophy.
The name of this game is stupid.
This team is more southern.
This coach has a hotter wife.
This school is lil bro.
These fans are obsessed.
This sport is important.
No one cares about that sport.
Our tennis facility is the newest.
Your tradition isn't like ours--it's fricked up.
Our sigma chi house is the most grandiose.
Some of your fans wear flip flops to games.

Dios mio, ayudame.
Play ball.

I like it. While I don't typically care for contrived rivalries, I do like that we're playing up the historical connections between the two states.

SC now plays for 3 and most of our fans know about none of them.

The ones we have for Mizzou and Clemson are the most generic looking things too.

Apparently LSU would've stayed in a conference where one team was wickedly toxic--rather than take a huge risk to make things better for itself--all in the name of being able to stomp it's foot and say, "but we're rivals!"

Glad our PsTB think more globally.

Nix the trophy and don't even call it a rivalry until some young buck Ag makes the moves on SCRooster's assumed hot daughter or something of the nature. Then we can at least have some bad blood and maybe the seeds of a rivalry will have been planted.

My daughters are all grown and gone doing their own thing. Besides, We've got too much family in Texas for that to be considered a bad thing.

All rivalries start somewhere. This one has potential. It'll be stoked by that bastard Hyman. He's just as quippy as Spurrier, he just doesn't do it as well. The trophy will give us something to play for, bragging rights so-to-speak. After that, all it will take is a few close games, an upset here or there, some disrespect shown .... and the rivalry will be on.

It should be fun. I'm actually looking forward to it and so is my family out in Texas. We've got some great bets going already and a bunch of them are coming over here for the game. Hell, we're already planning our trip out there for next year.
