Explains why your team cannot hit. Jay looks like he’s just defeated and out of answers

He has always been the hitting coach. They made some bad evaluations in the portal, in retrospect.

That post game press conference after the game yesterday was a hard listen.

I don't envy the decisions these guys have to make.
LSU lost a lot of power with Jared Jones and Ethan Frey leaving and had to replace that production.
You have a kid like Ashton Larson who looked good but was injured a lot of the year, he traditionally was a RF which is where Jake Brown plays so what do you do? Make guarantees to both and move one to 1B? If one of the two doesn't make the next step, people are wondering why you didn't go to the portal.
So they let Larson walk and he's playing well at Texas. There were a handful of young guys like that and their more experienced portal counterparts are trash.

Isn't your head coach also your hitting coach? How did y'all manage to have the worst hitting team in the SEC last year with the loaded roster you had?
Maybe it's a little deeper than what you think is the reason LSU is struggling this year.

Jay Johnson looks defeated. All I was saying. Probably not good at coaching hitting right now

Ffs Mods start pinning these threads again.
I get LSU is having a rough season. No reason to take it out on everyone else.

Isn’t that loser Yeskie the pitching coach?
Yeskie has quite a few skins on the wall. Weird to call him a "loser"

They want to talk football for some reason. Still a good ways to go before baseball is done. Then we hit the desert of no sports.

Decker is up to like .275 now. The results are a night and day difference and Ole Miss is 7-1 in conference play since.
Not to mention Hayden Federico. The dude hit like 245 last year with 2 HR or something. And this year through the State series he was hitting around 220.
In the month of April he's hit 600

I assume you were watching when Grahovac hit a homer as they were doing the coach's interview. He was having to watch as the booth was going on ad nauseum about A&M hitting.

Lot of games still to go but the hosting discussion is going to very interesting for the SEC this year.
Feels like Texas and Georgia are going to end being locks.
Auburn, Ole Miss, and A&M have put themselves in great position.
Florida is the weirdest dang team in the country but they’re hosting it the season ended today.
I don’t really know what to make of Bama. They could really use a win today. Great RPI but conference record starting to become an issue.
State and Oklahoma (maybe Kentucky?) still in the mix too but need to keep winning.

This year yes, last year no. He hired a hitting coach for last year and between that and all the injuries, we just could not gel as a team.
