“ It's a fricking miracle we beat State in a series. I have no clue how this team pulled that off.”
Arkansas is a top ten team and you played very well. We were still figuring out things in FYV. It is still tough to win on the road in the conference.
State has improved since that series too. Our pitching has definitely improved and our hitters have seemingly started relaxing at the plate and not trying to do too much. Plus our lineup is just consistently solid 1-9. Plus we have some depth. Which is huge in baseball.
Your bench players can be the difference between winning and losing.
And for the most part our pitching has started to gel.
But I don’t want to get ahead of myself. Still a long way to go. But I like the way we are playing right now.

Yeah, I've been watching that. 3.68 era over last five is a pretty good improvement, I'd consider La Tech sec equivalent.
LSU conference era has now dropped from 6.55 to 5.73, 7 earned runs in 2 games vs. Kentucky.
Also watching to see if this trend is going to stick.
On a side item...LSU currently with 5 conference losses. You can probably get into a regional, being LSU, with no more than 15 losses. 7 series remaining, maybe 10 losses maximum to make a regional.
BTW, LSU has surrender 49 runs in their 8 conference games. 6.125 runs/gm. Improving.

13 wins is on the bubble
14-15 wins is most likely a #2 seed
16-17 wins is most likely a #1 seed
18+ wins is in the conversation for a national seed..
All my opinion.. obviously depends on what happens..
extra innings in Austin
4-4 B10

You're take on LSU giving up 8 on average in conference was ridiculous.

It’s incredibly rare to miss the NCAAT out of the SEC w a 14-16 SEC record. It’s about 50/50 to make it with a 13-17 record (we’ve done it). But no, 15 losses has never been the cutoff or margin line ever.

That is where your OOC games come into play. If you crap the bed in too many of those games, it can be costly when it comes to Tournament time. If you are 13-17 but have a strong OOC record then you are most likely in good shape. Plus winning a couple of games in the conference tournament is helpful as well.
