So you think a 10 team conference consisting of Bama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Carolina, Ky, FSU, Clemson & NC St. would be underwhelming??

If the East plus Bama/Auburn would seek another conference, it surely would not settle for NC State and Clemson, right?

I think the SEC should chunk geography and do one of two things,

This divisional setup:

West should be called a non geographic name and include:

LSU
Bama
AU
UT
UF
OM
MSU

Division 2:

Vandy
Arky
Mizzou
TAMU
UGA
SC
UK

Or upper and lower divisions with relegation of the bottom 3 teams in the upper league.

How about this?

EAST
Alabama
LSU
Florida
Georgia
South Carolina
Tennessee
Auburn

WEST

Ole Miss
Miss State
Arkansas
Vanderbilt
Kentucky
Missouri
Texas A&M

Off topic but geographically Missouri is the 3rd most west-lying campus of the 14 conference schools.

frick that Georgia is playing scrubs.

Unlike LSU, we actually don't mind having a harder division schedule and don't want to cake walk into Atlanta every year.

I feel like the best solution is 9 conference games.

That is a less than useless comment after the divisions I proposed. Plus you can't beat USC anyway, and haven't played a west team with a pulse in years. I think it is just "we gave yall the game" nation's speed, TBH.

I like this. Every game would be great. Stipulation must be that winner of the East gets an at-large spot in the 4 team playoff.

Congrats LSU for winning the west 25 of the next 30 years.

I don't really care either way (and I think that would be stupid to change to those divisions), but it is hilarious to me how every other team says "suck it up and just play Florida" "quit whining" "who cares these rivalries must remain in place no matter how it messes with the schedule" "teams are cyclical and Tennessee will be good again" etc...

but when this realignment is brought up, it's "this isn't fair the East would be too hard!" and give no thought to if it is cyclical then Arkansas, State and A&M could all get good and make the West competitive as well

Well congrats on your cupcake schedule that landed you in Atlanta two years in a row even after South Carolina has spanked that arse.

No Bama, no LSU, no Arky/A&M = winning the schedule lottery and undeservedly making Atlanta two years in a row.

Nothing makes it more clear how dumb some people parroting talking points can be than this topic.

Upper and Lower league with relegation should be the formula going forward.

Short-sighted and probably wrong. It may survive in a new system that doesn't involve permanent opponents, but it almost certainly isn't going to survive like it does now.

Two very clear reasons. One, it could likely move in the schedule to accommodate other considerations. Two, the more members that get added, the more schools that don't give a frick about permanent rivalries and will vote for a more sensible alternative.

You may end up in a pod with UT, but if the SEC goes to 16 teams and no pod, you're losing that game. Better start coming to grips with that right now. Hopefully you'll just end up in their pod, though.

You can't get rid of the TSiO, then UT would be begging for a rival like LSU.
