UGA has a lot more money than Bama. Bama is poor.

I bet a few of yall are actually holding out hope. With 2 rings already won at GA it's like 0.4% chance.

Because UGA is desperate to keep a coach and desperate to keep that winning feeling.

We definitely want to keep winning, no doubt. But if any school is desperate, it would be Alabama. I mean, look at the comments. Y'all are all claiming you want Kirby next. Why? You are all claiming you could easily pay him more. Why? You are willing to pay Kirby more than you are willing to pay the GOAT. It reeks of desperation and acknowledges that you think Kirby, at this point, is better.

So, we do pay our coach more than you do, and you think that's a good argument?

Considering your coach has 7 rings and ours has two? Absolutely. You think it is a good argument to say "We could pay Saban more, but we won't even though he has won 7 Championships. But we would easily pay Kirby more!"

This argument is like looking over at your coworker and saying, "Frick yeah, you've been here for 5 years, and I got hired two years ago to do the same job at the same pay — suck it, bitch!"

Except you leave out the part where my coworker has accomplished a whole lot more. Wait...are Alabama fans now saying that Kirby is the same or better than Saban? Cause that's what it is looking like. This isn't the business world where time at work gets more/better pay. Pay is based upon performance in college football coaches salaries.
Otherwise Ferentz would be making what Saban makes.

Dabo goes back home to Bama

I could see Dabo taking the Bama job if offered because Clemson is trapped in a bad ACC Grant of Rights Deal and the conference is falling so far behind in revenue that even Dabo may struggle to keep up with the Jones in recruiting.

The SEC and B1G will be making so much money that Dabo may jump to Bama with their massive financial support and facilities.

Depends on when it happens. If it were to happen the season after another natty the incoming coach will be given a little leeway to get his house in order. If it is 4-5 years or longer (doubtful) the next coach is going to get run the hell out of Tuscaloosa right quick if he does not win a natty by year 2 because the fanbase is used to winning natty's and that is the only measure of success.

Smart is an obvious choice in either scenario. It would be a tough get even for Alabama but it is not out of the realm of possibility. The problem is that, in my opinion, I don't think Kirby coaches more than 15 or so seasons and is going into year 8 now. Smart talks a lot about the grind that is coaching at the level he coaches at...and he ain't telling tells out of school...it is damned hard to do that kind of work and do it well for an extended period of time. That is why Saban is the GOAT now and may be forever...not only is he brilliant he has been brilliant a long time by modern standards. I hope Smart coaches at UGA for 35 years or so but it is not likely considering the work involved today. If Saban retires next year Smart will be in his 9th season...that gives him, in my opinion, 6 years to replicate what he has done at UGA or continue to do what Saban has done at Alabama, depending on your perspective.

Obviously no one but Kirby Smart and his wife has any idea how long he is willing to grind like he has at UGA. It could be that the grind is what keeps him going...it certainly isn't money because he has earned enough to be comfortable for a long life and his kids also.
