Saban is not doing the new coach any favors. If KD meets expectation the Bama faithful will subscribe it to Saban being present. If KD falters in the least, they will howl for Saban to come out of retirement.
Then the mental anguish that goes along with any coaching, game day, or recruiting decision.
Would Saban have done that? Voice in the back of his head.
PLEASE KEEP SABAN AROUND!

Except that he's not.
He is man. What y'all are talking about is exactly what he said he wouldn't do. Y'all still acting like he's gonna be the head coach and hand a bunch of work off to DeBoer so he won't have to work but half days. That's not what he's doing. He's there now to help with transition. Once that's done, can KD call him? Sure. But he can do that when Nick's in Florida, Italy, or wherever Miss Terry wants to go.
I mean, it's better for the rest of us if y'all are right cause that kind of stuff never works. But Saban knows that and he won't screw it up before the guy even gets a chance.

Yeah dude Saban retired just so he can manage the worst part of college football with NIL and xfer portal...the denial stage of gump grief and copium is delicious to witness.

The 10th ranked SEC offense of last season.
Awesome
Not trolling.
It would seem odd that Saban would take an active role in recruiting when it takes the lions share of time and energy. I would think it is NIL and the transfer portal that played a big part in his leaving, so I can't imagine that that would be the area he would want to head up. It would have made more sense for him to hire someone (Someone that is highly driven) to head up recruiting and he do what he loves to do.....game plan, practice and develop.
Any thoughts? Is this what will actually be happening, or is it a part of rewarding him with a paycheck for his years of successes, not expecting him to actually take a large role?

DeBoer brings an elite offense to replace
Deboer may be considered a “great” offensive mind, but he didn’t call plays for Washington. Its was Ryan Grubbs that called 100% of the plays. Also playing Stanford, Arizona State, Washington, and Tulsa is equivalent to playing Vandy 4 times.
Deboer was a great NAIA coach, but what has he really done in FBS prior to this year? Without Penix have over 400 yards in 5 games they lose 4 games this year. Arizona State held Washington to 1 TD.
#10 offense - Wash
#96 defense- Wash
#36 recruiting ranking 2023- Wash
#26 recruiting ranking 2024- Wash
#72 recruting ranking 2022- Fresno St
#71 recruiting ranking 2021- Fresno
2024:
No Penix
No Odunze
Let’s look at a few games this year:
Stanford- 3-9- 42-33; was only down 2 points under 2 minutes left in the game.
Arizona State- 3-9- 15-7; ASU held Washington to 1 TD and was winning for 3 quarters.
Washington State- 5-7- 24-21; game was tied less than 6 minutes in game.
Deboer jumped when before he had a season like Dykes. Dykes has TCU in natty, and then follow that up a terrible season. Washington and TCU were very similar seasons. Win a lot of close games, and then lose national championship game. No one heard of Deboer when he was at Fresno State.
Deboer teams never been great at defense, and recruiting. He has never recruited in the south east or even worked in the South East. This had the making of a Harsin 2.0. There will be a power struggle between Deboer and the athletic program and it will cause distractions and Deboer will be gone in less than 3 years.

The 10th ranked SEC offense of last season. Awesome If this was true his defensive staff would still be in Tuscaloosa and Bond wouldn’t be gone.
That makes zero sense but you’re a maroon, so it fits.
Alabama had the 10th ranked passing offense in the SEC. Washington the 2nd ranked passing offense in the nation but still had a 1000 yard running back.

I believe a lot of what Saban said about staying around the program is just talk until I see otherwise. He's trying to soften the blow for the smooth brain crowd.
Seems to be working ...

That arrangement will most likely be dangerous and disastrous
