At Nashville reporter broached White's claims of improper offers in the recruiting process. Alabama spokesman Jeff Purinton stepped in and said Saban was not with the program at the time of White's recruitment. But Saban responded anyway. "I didn't even know it happened," he said. "So I can't comment on it. ... Is that the best thing we can talk about? ... kiss my arse."

I hope CMR is taking notes!

Maybe. The current ncaa does not want to try and attack a major program with a circumstantial case right now. Not after Miami.

It will take physical proof which only comes from a player. Hell, fluker came out and said with certainty he was paid while at bama and the ncaa wasn't interested.

Disagree. The only thing that will frack bama is a new NCAA Pres. and the head of NCAA enforcement (or whatever they call him) not being a bama grad.

I don't believe the NCAA will ever have much power again. In time the big 5 conferences will break away from it entirely.

Saban to Reporter: "Kiss my arse." You guys are the dirtiest program in the ncaa and it isn't close. However, it isn't about "nosing" around in Tuscaloosa. The ncaa has been neutered, mostly by Miami, and they know bama is the absolute best in the business with the best bagmen in sports and the bodies are buried well. Only thing that would frick bama is a former player with actual proof and bama boosters have learned their lesson there.

You aren't punished by the ncaa anymore you are punished in the media. I would think an Auburn fan would have figured that out by now.
That being said, I think Saban runs a very clean program. But we do have some shady boosters I'm sure.

Why do you constantly respond to me saying the same thing when I ignore 95% of your responses to me?

It is kinda pitiful. You seem like a sad lil feller in need of something. Look elsewhere.

I tend to agree with you on that. It would definitely mean more money for all of the Power Conf. schools.

There is nothing shady about the REC. You must make them think you are throwing spitballs. Play along.

You think saban runs a clean program and it is all on the boosters while saban thinks bama is clean?

Ok.

Alabama is very unique when it comes to purchase of cars by atheletes. All paper work as to purchase of car must be submitted to atheletic department. This policy is above and beyond what the NCAA requires. This is part of the process.

I think Saban keeps what he controls very clean. You got proof of something I'm sure you could sell it Yahoo and make a couple million. Otherwise you are full of hypocrisy and shite.

I don't judge him as being right or wrong.
The way Saban chose to handle it was the right way for him to deal with those queries at that moment.
I'm sure 10 diff coaches would've handled it 10 diff ways.

Im a person who appreciates a more chill, zen-like approach when walking into a lion's den where I know I'm the entree.

Saban should've spoken honestly and straightforwardly.
Answered the questions succinctly.
Not let em think they rattled him.
If he didn't have an answer, he could've just said, I don't know, but I'll find out."

Kiss my arse---while very effective for diffusing a current altercation nay not be the best approach going forward.

In the end, going all agro on a reporter isn't going to help Saban's case down the road . Best to make buddies now.

Remember, Nick: Cool as a cucumber.

Funny but inapprorpiate. That's the kind of comment that could well come back to bite Saban. No need to make it so that reporters can't wait to bring you down and that's what a comment like that does. For a time I worked as a reporter and all it took was one official being rude for no reason (everyone else was nice) for that official to get on my shite list. From that point forward I paid special attention to what they did and the last thing you want is a reporter paying attention. Bo official, politician, or big time coach - or hell most humans - is 100 percent clean but being a dick can make reporters pay more attention when otherwise they're too busy to make you project.

I never turned a blind eye to corruption/scandals on those who were never rude (I wasn't) but a reporter can make even a small thing or comment you'd never think much about and make it your nightmare and if you really rankle them they can make you their project. The person who was flat out rude from the get go raised alarm bells so I paid more attention to them.

It's human nature to give people who are nice or at least not rude a bigger benefit of the doubt and ask/allow them to explain. And it's human nature to give the a-hole no benefit of the doubt.

If I were Saban I would have made him repeat the question about 3 more times, I would have been like "You're asking me about a player that was recruited 2 years before I was hired, is that right?"

and then just said "Yeah, well, since it was 2 years before I was hired I don't know anything about it, good question though!"
