What headlines are you reading?
It's been years since I've even heard the names Lindsey Lohan and Paris Hilton.

The funny part is the people who disagree tend to make it a bigger story.
With a media that splashes everything across the front pages that is not newsworthy the story gets big without those disagreeing.
I worked in radio for several years and found out the hard way the way news outlets shape stories to create drama and promote listeners/readers.

Yeah, you are 100% wrong. And I'm posting on my phone while walking at the moment on a message board that I am not going to even reread what I type before I submit. I could literally not give less of a shite about what some half wit anonymous grammar nazi thinks.
If you are bored and want to kill time, go back through my post history over the years and you will find some discussion of tax policy and topics a lay person couldn't produce. Anyway, enjoy.

The insert the latest flavor of the month, then. Don't try to sell us that entertainers like Ryan Seacrest, Katie Perry. If you think we are not an entertainer/sports driven society then I don't know what to tell you.

Did he just drop a Ryan Seacrest?

But the reason that is done is because they know it will create discussion from both sides. The story would die if the people who disagreed with it just ignored it.

Note: I was not a Trump fan, and did not vote in the last election. I just thought we had the two worst possible candidates a nation could possibly come up with. I haven't found Trump to be nearly as bad as you seem to think. Can't say I am a huge fan, but if he is reelected I do't think it would be the end of the world, either.

or if the news media actually did their jobs and quit interjecting their own personal opinions into the news and actually reported the.....news. The news has become opinion pieces...nothing more.
Advertising is a multi billion dollar industry because the can paint a one sided picture of a product. Left uncheck the news media is trying to shape opinions with their "reporting". Off the top of my head, I can't name a single source of news that is unbiased.

I mean, seriously...one of the hottest stories out right now is about the sexual harassment going on primarily in Hollywood and the entertainment industry.

[quote]Couple of quick facts for you though then I'm done with lunch and back to work.
1. The recent tax legislation has me busier than ever. Do some research on section 965 and the new toll charge and the fact I do international tax, then you will understand. I have more work now than I would if trump had lost. Fyi, that does not make me happy. I've had more work than I want for a decade.
A- Certainly in the 1st year of a major tax reform bill CPAs will have more work getting everybody on board, but we all know that the simplification will eventually save big $$$ with filing expenses.
2. My big paper (like a thesis) in grad school was would the US ever go to a flat tax. The answer was and is a definitive no. Tax laws get more complex and more of them under each and every administration period. Cept maybe Obama. He was pretty status quo on everything.
A- If that was your thesis topic, you picked a simple one! Very few people honestly believe that a flat tax would be a possibility, but NOBODY has suggested that the new bill will not simplify the tac code going forward
3. Voting with my wallet has me voting Dem now, you are correct on that. I'm already in a high tax bracket and my salary goes up every year. By cutting corporate taxes today and stacking trillions more on the debt, all the GOP and trump did was assure larger individual tax increases sooner rather than later. Sure, I got about a 6k tax cut on my salaried income this year. And I will be paying back twice that in a couple of years with interest when individual tax rates get hiked even more very soon. Book that.
A-bullshite! We're already seeing what cutting corporate taxes is doing for the economy in the way of increased salaries, expansion, and bringing overseas companies back home where they'll pay "the going rate" on corporate taxes around the world!...and you can book that!

Are you saying the #MeToo movement, and sexual harassment allegations have been ignored in the news media? I mean.....are you not portraying yourself to be "up on the news"?

I've done no such thing. If anything, I've just said it's really easy to avoid that stuff.

My point has been that we are an entertainment driven society. I'm really not sure how anybody can argue this point, honestly.

Good, plus they get to meet Donald Trump who's also been a massive American celebrity the last 40 years, a double benefit I wish I could be so lucky
