Its actually a 99.97% survival rate for those under 50

The survival rate is high, and that’s good. Problem is it’s highly contagious and is infecting millions, with no signs of slowing. A small percentage of an astronomical number is still a large number. In the end, I don’t think there was anything we could realistically have done to stop it, but the constant downplaying of this tragedy really bothers me. Can we not grieve and empathize? Have we lost that ability? Is everything politics now? Are there really this many a-holes in the world?

You serious Clark? You think this is being downplayed? I agree with you that it is serious, but the problem has been the total lack of context and perspective in the story and reporting around this. The media and many others are treating this like it is smallpox burning through the population. In fact, it is a respiratory virus with a 99.7% survival rate. Most of the people who are dying were about to die of something else anyway. I realize there are exceptions.

Good point. The left is exaggerating it, and the right is downplaying it, both for political ends. I just hate how polarized and political the whole thing has gotten. I thought it might bring us back together a little, but I’m not sure anything can.

I wish him a speedy and full recovery. I hope he remains asymptotic.

I mean that.

This is the official statement from UA:

I think CBS made it up... none of the folks who writes for alabama has said it. In fact all are saying if it holds true, he could potentially coach Saturday. Weird how press is spinning.

Yep.

Report: Nick Saban could coach Bama with three negative tests (247)

So he’s not sick but has to live like he is.

its like an 85-87% asymptomatic rate, but that doesn't mean they aren't still contagious.

Its a virus that isn’t very deadly

We have a lot of those. And a lot of people die everyday from all kinds of things. It’s sad, but utterly ridiculous we changed our way of life

He's....he's....wait. I'm confused. Is that a double negative or a double positive?

Everyone knows that a double negative is a positive? But can anyone give an example of a double positive being a negative? Anyone???

Yeah...right...! I thought so!

Yeah I don’t get where the “confirmation” that the test was not a false positive is coming from. No one else has reported that. Rinaldi reported on ESPN this morning that Alabama likely won’t release the results of Saban’s retests over the next few days.

Me either. I wonder if, since the official statement is that he remains asymptomatic, CBS just infers that additional tests have confirmed the positive results?

Not trying to be political, but IMO there is no doubt our path forward will be greatly affected by the results of the election, in regards to whether we gradually open back up or gradually shut back down.
