Oh wait. He's talking about his MISSED FG as the mistake.

nope, he's talking about 12 men breaking the huddle taking him out of f.g. range. that's the mistake. he shouldn't be punished for it.

Meh, he couldn't win an NFL overtime, either, and he should know!

The point is that he answered a question on an Alabama show. Not on ESPN or some other national media outlet. An Alabama show for Alabama fans. If thats what he thinks great for him. I don't like the NFL rule but they didn't ask me.

The OT in thew pros sucks.

Win a coin toss and score....you win.......

you win on a coin toss...How can that be better......?

Saban sucks.....

no, just say we got beat. both teams had their opportunity.

if he really doesn't like the rule, make it an issue at the football meetings in the spring/summer.

NFL-style overtime

I think he's right, and he is not the only one that thinks that

I mostly agree FWIW

The timing of his comments makes it sound like butthurt... but if college football did either kickoffs to alternate possessions or something like started each team on their own 40 yard line (instead of the other team's 25 yard line) it would be a lot better IMO

As it stands now you don't have to move the ball much to score and that is too different from the regulation rules to make sense

1. Denial- most Bama fans are still here (we are still the better team, punt hit wire, etc...)
2. Anger
3. Bargaining - Saban apparently is here (new overtime format, we want rematch, etc..)
4. Depression
5. Acceptance

Waiting on the last 2 phases to play out here on SEC Rant

I don't have a problem with that point, but it still comes off as sour grapes given the timing. It would be interesting to know if Saban had ever addressed this previously to try to influence any change in the rule.

Imnot reading this whole thread. So forgive me if this has been brought up already.

he said, and then he referenced the fact that he coached extensively in the NFL.

He never corched in the NFL since the OT rule was changed.......

hes better at misdirection in his speeches as opposed to during a game.

I like NFL overtime better than college.

Both suck though. They should just play an extra 15:00 period, and if the two teams are tied at the end of it then the game just ends in a tie.

He could easily have answered the question in a way that wasn't an excuse.

"Well I do prefer the NFL system, but the fact is that we play in college football and that isn't our system. We had an opportunity to get some points on the board, or to keep LSU out, but we didn't get the job done."
